The Audi 3.0 TDI is a powerful and popular engine, but unfortunately it is not without its weaknesses. Especially in models with around 70.000 km, problems often occur, primarily with the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) and the timing chain.
We explain what is behind the problems and how to solve them effectively. Many people do not know that this engine has a controlled oil pressure which is crucial for the service life of the timing chain.
The main problem: Controlled oil pressure
An oil pressure control valve can sometimes reduce the pressure to below 1 bar, especially with thin oil such as 5W30. This is a real problem for the timing chain and often leads to expensive repairs. Our solution? software adaptation! Without any modifications or mechanical interventions, we ensure that the engine always maintains at least 1,5 bar oil pressure. This protects the timing chain and significantly extends its service life.
