Porsche takes over majority in Greyp!

The investment was made in 2018 at the same time as the entry into the sister company Rimac Automobili. Now Greyp had received a takeover offer from a third party investor. Porsche has therefore exercised contractually agreed pre-acquisition rights in order to expand its activities in the e-bike sector with the majority takeover of Greyp. In addition to Porsche as the majority owner, only Mate Rimac and other Greyp founders remain involved in the company. The takeover has not yet been legally completed. The closing is expected at the end of the year.

Porsche has a majority in Greyp!

"Porsche is a pioneer in sustainable mobility and is consistently driving its e-mobility strategy forward“, Says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG and Board Member for Finance and IT. "Our activities in the field of e-bikes underline our consistent approach. Porsche has been a leading supplier of plug-in hybrids for years; in 2019 we launched the Taycan as the first fully electric Porsche - and last year every third Porsche delivered was equipped with an electric drive. Our ambitious goal is to achieve CO on the balance sheet across the entire value chain by 20302- to be neutral."

Porsche also uses the know-how from battery-electric drives in vehicles in the attractive and rapidly growing e-bike market. Electric bikes have a permanent place in the company's e-mobility strategy and promise further potential. In March 2021, the bicycle range that had existed for many years was expanded: With the Porsche e-bikes "Sport" and "Cross", the brand is presenting its interpretation of exclusive e-bikes. Due to the very positive market reaction, both models are currently almost sold out. Porsche will continue the long and successful partnership with Rotwild. We are currently working on product updates for the existing "Sport" and "Cross" models.

Porsche drives investments in digitization and electrification

Despite the tense market situation, Porsche is resolutely pressing ahead with its investments in digitization and electrification. 15 billion euros will flow into new technologies over the next five years: 6,5 billion euros of this is earmarked for development costs for the hybridization and electrification of vehicles, and 5,5 billion euros for digitization topics such as intelligent mobility offers, auto IT, innovations and new business processes Another three billion euros will be invested in systems related to e-mobility, for example in charging infrastructure or buildings for the production of electric vehicles. About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
