Segway Ninebot Max G30D II: what can the new one do?

Is the new Segway Ninebot G30D II a real upgrade or just a facelift? The successor to the G30D Max, the Segway Ninebot Max G30D II, has important improvements over its predecessor. This includes, for example, delivery with a new one Klingel and newer Flashlight. Unfortunately, however, unfortunate changes have also been made from the previous model. For example, the handlebar shrunk and the lever for the electric engine brake became remote. However, this does not limit the positive overall impression.

Design & processing

Despite the slightly shortened handlebars, there is an ergonomically good driving style, even for people over 1,80 meters tall. The classic bell in the form of a bell on the predecessor's right handlebar is no longer available on the current model. Now the bell has been moved to the left and replaced by a chic one ring bell replaced. The right handlebar was instead equipped with a hook for the folding mechanism. The water protection class has also been significantly improved compared to its predecessor. The entire Segway is with one IPX5 protection equipped, the core components even with one IPX-7 protection.

Brake

  • Direct control of the electric motor brake is no longer possible in the new form of the e-scooter because the brake lever has been removed. In contrast to the previous model, the current version only has a finely adjustable handbrake on the left side of the handlebars, which controls both the mechanical brake on the front wheel and the electric brake on the rear wheel. Due to the strength of the braking force, it is important that the body weight is shifted backwards when braking hard to avoid tipping over forwards.

Light

  • A new front light, which is now better integrated into the frame of the e-scooter, can also be found in the current version. Even though the light is definitely suitable for driving at night due to its well-defined brightness, there is unfortunately still no user-adjustable beam height. Unfortunately, the beam height is set a little low ex works, so that the lighting of the street with the existing components is not optimal.

fold

  • Even if the weight of the e-scooter is tight 19 kg does not deviate significantly from its predecessor and carrying it is still difficult, progress has been made with the folding mechanism. With the new Segway Ninebot Max G30D II, an eyelet on the handlebars snaps into a hook on the rear fender and allows you to lift the folded handlebars.

Driving

  • Through the same 350 watt rear wheel motor As in the previous model, the Segway Ninebot Max G30D II can quickly reach its top speed of around 80 km/h, even with a driver's weight of +20 kg. In this discipline, the new version of the e-scooter is even slightly faster than its predecessor. Even with loads, the G30D II quickly reaches its top speed. However, the maximum weight is 100 kg. Banned in Germany, but still possible with the new variant - the top speed can be adjusted with Apps like Scooter Hacking Utility erhöhen. Incidentally, one recommendation is the official app for the Ninebot Max G30D II. This allows you to activate the electric motor brake, for example. The engine brake can prevent theft by rolling away, for example, but it is still possible to carry it away. That's why you should always take your scooter with you secure with a lock. As already known from the predecessor, the driving experience is also good with the new variant. The pleasant driving experience results from an excellent road holding, which is mainly due to the high weight, the low center of gravity and the tubeless 10 inch pneumatic tires is made possible. The scope of delivery even includes a small extension hose. However, simple inflation with the help of an electric air pump is also possible if required.

Battery

  • Thanks to the large battery, which is already known from the previous model, a massive one 551 watt hour battery, the e-scooter has a range of up to 65 kilometers according to Segway. With this, the scooter continues to stand out from the competition. The built-in power supply allows for easy charging of the battery, as there is no need for a heavy, external power supply, which means that charging is also possible on the go. A simple two-pin charger is sufficient to fully charge the battery. In order to reduce the charging process to approx. 6 hours, the optional purchase of an external power pack is also possible.

Price

  • The Segway Ninebot G30D II is currently available from a price of 730 euros.

And finally ... The Segway Ninebot Max G30D II comes with many new features compared to its predecessor, but most of it has remained the same. Overall, the G30D II is more likely than Facelift instead of calling it a true successor. The long range and the possibility of charging without a power supply are convincing features of the new model. As with the G30D, the G30D II can also be accessed without hesitation.
