Who does not know her? Track plates / spacers / adapter plates or spacer called. If, for example, you have a wheel set with a relatively high offset (ET) on your vehicle, then it is often the case that the wheels are sitting pretty far inside the wheel well, which of course not everyone likes. In sports vehicles, the wheels are usually flush with the wheelhouse edges and so it is no wonder that many tuning fans want to get track plates for your vehicle. But which system is suitable for your own vehicle? We would like to briefly introduce the two systems DRA and DR and maybe it will help you to find the right system for your vehicle.

System DR:

the widening of the track is attached between the wheel and the axle contact surface by means of “longer wheel bolts”

  • usable with spacers per wheel up to approx. 40 mm
  • correspondingly longer wheel bolts are required
  • Rims need no relief pockets
  • now and then users report vibrations while driving
  • difficult attaching the wheels
  • partly higher forces act on the screws
  • Chassis parts such as wheel bearings are exposed to higher loads
  • The DR system is usually cheaper than the DRA
  • almost always available with ABE

System DRA:

  • usable with spacers per wheel from 20 mm
  • Spacers are screwed onto the wheel hub with separate wheel bolts
  • Attaching the wheels much easier
  • Original wheel bolts can be used for fastening
  • Rims almost always require relief bags
  • the forces on the mounting screws of the rims are lower
  • Chassis parts such as wheel bearings are exposed to higher loads
  • the DRA system is usually more expensive than the DR
  • with separate screws often only available with a certificate

So it is already clear that the track plates are to be installed with at least 20 mm width per wheel so nothing speaks against the system DRA which has the additional advantage of possibly also another set of wheels (Winter wheels etc.) can be installed without any problems. With the DR system, this would not be possible automatically because extended wheel bolts are required here, which may no longer fit on the second wheel set due to a different head. So another set of screws would be required to be able to drive the spacers with another set of rims. If you are unsure, it is better to ask a suitable tuner / car workshop and get advice.
