In the test - self-charging wireless Trifo Lucy Pet vacuum robot!

[Display] We have one again Vacuum cleaner tried out. This time it's the manufacturer Trifo who makes the suction cup Lucy Pet sent to us so that we can show what will be possible with vacuum robots in the future. The Lucy vacuum robot should be complete without a laser tower and can only navigate with forward-facing cameras without avoiding even the smallest of obstacles. The scope of delivery includes the usual elements.

  1. Vacuum robot including charging station
  2. Safety instructions and instructions in German

So everything you need to use the Trifo Lucy is included. However, at the price, a Replacement side brush been nice and somehow appropriate. Doesn't matter! Let's get to the device. The Trifo Lucy is a classic round vacuum robot. The missing laser tower, which is a clear element in most vacuum robots, is of course striking. However, it allows the vacuum cleaner to go under almost any piece of furniture. A decisive advantage, as we find it. A Golden ring is also special on the surface of the vacuum robot, which is almost exclusively black Accents.

Navigation and suction power

By navigating with a Full HD camera (1080P HDR color camera) including collision, depth and fall sensors (Time-of-Flight (ToF) depth sensor) the Trifo Lucy relies on a flatter design. Also one 3D recognition is used, which notices smaller obstacles and avoids them. Many manufacturers combine this with LDS with a laser room measurement, which is avoided here. But it has to be said that the 3D recognition notices obstacles extremely well and works reliably. Only the vacuum robot lacks a particularly comprehensive overview, since the camera, of course, only forward is directed. In the Pet Edition, which we have on site for our test, Lucy achieves an impressive suction power 4000 pa. But these are also in the volume audible, because we were able to record around 92 dB at maximum power. However, then there is one extremely strong suction power available, which cleans hard floors but also carpets just as well.

particularly effective against animal hair

The suction power can in the App can be adjusted individually by a controller, which means that you can use Lucy at a much lower volume if you only have a few carpets or only hard floors. Incidentally, the scope of delivery of the Pet Edition also includes one for the vacuum robot additional essay, which is ideal for hair. You remove the normal brush, which means you have a shaft to the dust chamber. And it was this very feature that pulled quite a few hairs out on the dark gray carpet in our office. The clear advantage is that no hair become entangled in any moving parts. That saves a lot of time and nerves!

app features

The Trifo Home app, for iOS and Android, is the control center of the Trifo Lucy vacuum robot. The coupling between the vacuum robot and the smartphone is convenient and works with a simple QR code. When crossing your four walls, the Trifo Lucy creates its own map of the living spaces. Unfortunately, the map creation is not as precise as with other vacuum cleaners due to the navigation, but it is still sufficient for the purpose. And with the so-called No-go zones you can even customize your map to tell the vacuum robot where it's allowed to move and where it's not.

You can also Lucy in manual mode You can also control it yourself, set the suction power individually or use it for targeted cleaning in certain rooms. In addition, the app can also be used if desired ALEXA or Google Assist so that voice control ("Alexa, turn on Lucy" or "Hey Google, turn on Lucy") is possible. And one thing we have to say positively here, the response to our voice commands or the information that the device outputs are really cool. Short, concise and very modern!

camera features

The Video and surveillance function is one of the features that the Trifo Lucy Pet brings with it. Thanks to the camera, you can watch your vacuum robot live and from its point of view as it drives through your four walls and cleans them. To protect your safety, however, it is only possible to access the camera of the vacuum robot when it is also actively cleaning. If you still try to access the camera, you will receive a message that the requested function is currently blocked.

When the vacuum robot is in use, it announces access to the camera image via the built-in speakers. Thanks to the camera, the vacuum robot also has one Monitoring function, which acts like a motion detector and notifies you of all movements via the app when it is switched on. At the same time, a video will be created for you so that you can always check if everything is really okay. And there is an additional timer for the function, which you can activate as required, for example when you are absent.

wiping function

The wipes as the mop attachment are attached to the vacuum robot with Velcro strips. Since this construction is bombproof, there is no need to worry about the attachment falling off. Otherwise the mode is like any other. The rag is wet and is more or less “pulled behind”. This is not a particularly effective cleaning method, but it can be used for the "quick wipe" in between.

Final conclusion

  • The maximum suction power of the Trifo Lucy Pet is really good, even if the volume of the vacuum robot is a bit too high. The Pet Edition is a good idea and makes an impression with its additional features, even if the device itself comes with a decent price.
