For a long time today we have a really chic again Restomod project found this time from the tuner Ares design was lovingly made by hand. The basis is a Chevrolet Corvette C2, which was launched in the summer of 1962 as the second generation Corvette under the name Sting Ray (written with spaces) was put up for sale. It was also the first Corvette that you could buy as a coupe and even then there was an optional 7l V8 with 450 hp and a massive 544 Newton meters of torque. And exactly such a classic example has now been completely restored by the Ares Design team and equipped with a modern LS3-V8 from the Corvette C6.
The 6,2-liter V8 engine gives the C2 a whopping 518 hp, which is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and Viper Hammerhead differential. In order for this mighty engine to somehow find its place in the C2, extensive modifications were necessary. For example, there would be a dedicated fuel tank, modified wheel arches and a 427-style domed hood. This was the only way to accommodate the monster under the long bonnet. But not only the engine is the highlight, but the complete vehicle!
The body has been completely restored and painted in glossy black, and the same applies to the interior, which has been carefully crafted down to the last detail and is completely lined with red leather. And as befits a well-done restomod project, a lot of the latest technology is of course also used in the interior. A brand-new sound system with a 500-watt Alpine amplifier, various USB ports and even a Bluetooth connection is unobtrusively installed. The nostalgic speedometer scale is equipped with modern LED lighting and both the windows and the "doors" are now electrically controlled.
Finally, there was a beautiful chrome multi-spoke wheel set in 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear and modern LED headlights and taillights. Ares Design doesn't just want to leave it at a one-off and so the tuner offers conversions for the C400.000 and other vehicles at a price of around €2. If we get more specific details about the modifications or the restoration process, there will of course be an update for this story.
