Almost 2 weeks ago the tuner APR started the project "RLMS VW Golf R“Announced for the SEMA auto show. And that's where the potent Wolfsburg was presented. The result is much stronger than the one that has been announced forever R400 and optically much more spectacular. The focus was clearly on the suitability for the race track and shows the RLMS on every corner. The body kit on the R is inspired by the 290 PS strong TCR and was originally intended for the GTI. Adapting it to the facelift Golf R was a challenge for APR. To the immense widening of the wings and the adapted front and rear apron join a huge front spoiler and a huge adjustable rear spoiler. The sash at the rear can be adjusted individually for any purpose and thus has a very practical use and is by no means just a show.

That applies however to all body components. Whether it is the functional extensions at the front or rear or the front apron with its huge central air intake. All the way to the extremely aggressive diffuser, everything fulfills a purpose and is deliberately set in scene by the racing Vollfolierung. Incidentally, the wheel set is an in-house aluminum rim by APR in an estimated 20 inch, which probably comes with at least 12J on the rear axle. And, of course, a racecourse-compatible coilover kit should not be missing. And so APR here installed a roll control racing coilover suspension that can be adjusted both in the train and in the pressure stage and, like the rear spoiler, is tailored to the particular race track.

And one of the highlights is of course the engine conversion. The 2,0 engine receives an in-house Stage III upgrade that mobilizes a huge 536 PS & 642 NM in the end. Among other things, a Borg-Warner turbocharger is used and high-performance injectors, a new fuel pump, a new intake, a new intercooler, an individual sports exhaust system and of course an in-house chip tuning are installed. The interior is also completely trimmed for racing because everything unnecessary flew out and a roll cage and 2 bucket seats with 5-point belts are installed instead. Many small details such as the individual door panels or the small RLMS lettering in the interior round off the sporty cabin of the RLMS project.
Incidentally, the almost 550 hp speedster should make the quarter mile in under 10 seconds and a good 140 seconds faster than the series at 15 mph. WOW ... We do not currently have any more details about the RLMS-Golf-R from APR. If we receive more information in a timely manner, there will of course be an update for this report as always.
