Have you ever heard of the Mazda CX-8? An 4,90 m SUV with seven seats from Japan located above the CX-5. Mazda, however, is skeptical about the German market and sees the CX-8 probably without chance against Audi Q7 or the big Mercedes GL. But we do not think so because especially the price is very interesting with something for the 40.000 € and thus he is rather a candidate for BMW X3 or Audi Q5. Compared to the CX-5 there is a 23 cm body that is 5 cm higher. The space won will benefit only the third row of seats that can be set up or fold with two handles.
Of course, the seat row is not intended for adults, but especially for children up to 1,60 m size, it is perfect. The drive is the advanced 2,2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 190 PS used which will be available this year also in the CX-5. One can only hope that Mazda redesigns and will offer the CX-8 in this country. If so, the Mazda tuner has Knight Sports also a small carbon body kit in stock. It comes with an attachment for the front bumper of the striking fairings to bring under the headlights. The components make the front appear significantly more bulky and eye-catching, but are a matter of taste especially with regard to the panels near the headlights as we find.
Optionally you can order for the tailgate still a fixed and very distinctive roof spoiler in our opinion but also somehow out of place with this vehicle. Maybe the whole thing would look different if side skirts and a sporty rear diffuser were available, but currently this is not the case. However, Knight Sports offers various lowering (sports springs, suspensions) and various alloy wheels for the big SUV. The presentation vehicle rolls on a set of glossy black varnished multi-spoke rims which, in our opinion, are at least 2 inches too small.
If you look closely you can also recognize a modified brake system and installed here is a system with red painted brake calipers and slotted brake discs. The rear end is rounded off with a sport exhaust system in the 4 tube design, but again the size of the tailpipes is somehow a little too small. Why so reserved on such a big vehicle? There's something going on! If we get more details about the changes, there is, of course, an update for this report.
