And the winner is - TUX! Or a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro from tuner Detroit Speed and its owner Suart Adams! The team won the title “SEMA Battle of the Builders 2018” with a dreamy pitch-black Camaro. The car is called "TUX" and originally came in the unattractive green and with a 307 cid-V8 and Powerglide transmission. TUX was built over several years and the result is really impressive. The complete frame and the body have been rebuilt and so TUX comes, for example, with a QuadraLink rear suspension, a GearFX Diff or a braking system from BAER. But the absolute highlight is under the bonnet.

Here, the tuner built one of Kurt Urban built LS3 V8 with harrop compressor which impresses especially with the bright Chevrolet orange livery in the otherwise completely black shrouded engine compartment. The power sends the engine to the rear wheels by means of Bowler performance six-speed manual transmission And of course, a fully handcrafted sports exhaust system must not be missing. It provides an adequate soundscape that is absolutely necessary in view of the evil eye appearance. The complete body has been extensively restored, cleaned and rebuilt in its own extreme extremely complex. For example, there was a completely custom bonnet with power domes or even small details like the stylish new door handles.
chrome-plated Forgeline alloy wheels in kingsize format
Chrome-plated Forgeline aluminum rims with an immense drop center and classic 5-spoke design now turn in the wheel arches. The wheel set disappears thanks to the significant lowering, especially on the rear axle, partly in the widened wheel arch. And of course the interior is completely new and unique from the ground up. There is a dreamlike black leather interior from M&M Hot Rod which is particularly characterized by the two Recaro bucket seats, a fully leather-covered dashboard or the elaborate door panels. The instrument cluster in retro style is from Classic Instruments and the center console even includes a touchscreen. In addition to the sound system, this can also be used to control and monitor all of the vehicle's electronic systems.
Of course, modern technology should not be missing
Incidentally, the high-quality aluminum trim, which was also created in hours of manual labor, provides a contrast. The cabin is rounded off with the Detroit Speed leather steering wheel which, like the rest of the leather upholstery, is completely black with the “TUX” logo. Of course, the project is many times more extensive than we can describe it and that is why we have included a link below that documents the complete conversion. If we receive timely information on further changes not mentioned before, there will of course be an update for this report.
