The American manufacturer Dodge officially presented the 2019 model year of the Challenger yesterday. And of course the "sluggish" V8 with previously 717 PS & 880 NM must be revised to generate more power. After all, the Challenger SRT Hellcat, built since 07/2014, flew to 3,6 km / h in "just" 100 seconds (and that with rear-wheel drive and manual transmission) and even at puny 320 km / h was final ^^. But since yesterday we know the Hellcat gets another top model and that gets stronger! 2019 comes the strongest and fastest muscle car in the form of the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, He is then only a few seconds from the drag race Monster Challenger Demon with his 852 PS and 1.044 Newton meters removed.
The Redeye, as the most powerful version of the Hellcat, delivers brutal 808 PS and 958 Newtonmeter torque. Once again he draws the power from the well-known 6,2-liter supercharged eight-cylinder engine, which according to the manufacturer 25 has received new components. There is an enlarged compressor, reinforced pistons and connecting rods, an optimized valvetrain and a high-performance injection system and other minor changes. The unit is coupled to a reinforced eight-speed automatic transmission that has to cope with the increased speed limit of 6.500 tours (previously 6.200 rpm).
The changes mean that the Challenger Hellcat Redeye only needs 3,4 seconds to 100 km / h and increases its top speed to 327 km / h. The quarter mile is of course particularly important for a road-legal coupé ^^. Only 10,8 seconds should pass here to finally complete this discipline with a top speed of 211 km / h. Compared to the radical and limited demon, the Redeye is only 1,15 seconds short. The top model Redeye will be positioned above the "normal" Hellcat from 2019 onwards, which gains 728 hp and 890 Newton meters of torque. The most striking feature is the massive bonnet with two air vents, which is based on the design of the Dart Swinger or the Demon tribute of the Dodge muscle cars of the 1960s and 1970s.
