While almost all categories of the VW Golf MK7 are extremely popular with tuners, you hardly hear anything from the VW Golf E. And that although the Stromer is actually quite interesting! The e-Golf is driven by a permanent magnet synchronous machine and a peak output of 85 kW (115 PS) and has a maximum torque of 270 Nm. The drive via the front wheels is successful thanks to a single-stage gear reduction. And then there are the first problems because the top speed of the e-Golf is limited to 140 km / h and from 0 to 100 km / h it takes a relatively tired 10,4 seconds. The big advantage is of course the average energy consumption which is 12,7 kWh per 100 km in the NEDC. Things are going a little better since the facelift that was presented at the end of 2016. The lifted e-Golf now has 100 kW (136 PS) and a maximum torque of 290 Nm. The capacity of the lithium-ion cells has also increased, increasing it from 25 to 37 Ah.
At the same time, the energy content increased to 35,8 kWh. The acceleration values have improved a bit because from now on 150 km / h are possible and the acceleration from 0-100 km / h takes 9,6 seconds. And so that the whole thing is optically a bit more exciting, the team from RevoZport has considered the “RAZOR 7E” and has given the Stromer a sporty look. The background to it all is the e-Touring Car Challenge on the racetrack Formula E Hong Hong ePrix launched on October 8, 2016. As the official aerodynamic kit provider, the tuner has therefore developed the new components for the "Razor 7E". At the front there is an additional front splitter which gives the bumper a much sportier look and is equipped with side wings. The side skirts are also part of the aerodynamics package and give the side section a more dynamic style. And there were also changes at the rear because a sporty diffuser was installed here, but it doesn’t have a sport exhaust system because an e-car doesn’t need it. 😉
A GT roof spoiler was also installed on the roof, which should also give a sportier impression. All components are made of carbon and are therefore particularly light. The presentation vehicle was modified even further and received important changes that are prescribed by FRD (Formula Racing Technology Ltd.). These include a roll cage, a new chassis, a modified brake system, bucket seats, 6-point belts, or a fire extinguishing system. The whole thing is rounded off with a chic multi-spoke wheel set with a silver finish. If we get more information about the modifications to the e-Golf, there will of course, as always, be an update for this report.
