Widebody Knallerbse based on a Daihatsu Mira Gino

The fifth generation of the Daihatsu Mira (L700 / 710) is, like everyone else, hard to beat in terms of boredom. No matter if you ordered the 660-cm³- "EF" engine as a sucker or turbocharger, the thing was lame with its optional 4 automatic transmission in any case. The plan one Mini Cooper in retro style Daihatsu then gave up 2009 with the Mira Gino II to throw on the market. Only the optional four-wheel drive was something of a small highlight. But for Nozomu Yamamoto (Yamamoto Works), the Daihatsu Mira Gino has always been more. He snapped up an 1999 model and rebuilt it extremely similar to the one recently presented 360 PS Austin Mini Turbo.

With a 1.8 liter Mazda MX-5 NB Eunos Roadster (Miata) engine and 160 PS, it is not quite as powerful as the Turbo Mini, but the Mira comes with a quickly removable front and fantastic 15 inch F1R alloy wheels in chrome gold . The body is deliberately reduced to the bare essentials. There aren't even any discs. If you want to open the rear doors, you have to reach inside the vehicle. The fender flares create a huge look and enclose the above-mentioned alloy wheels with millimeter precision. The absolute highlight of the changes on the outside is definitely the bonnet. This comes with a power dome of similar size to Nascar and provides the MX-5 engine with the necessary space.

no speedometer, no belts, no discs, nothing ...

In the interior there is a fiberglass racing seat from a go-kart, there is a specially adapted roll cage, a significantly extended steering column with a 310mm sports steering wheel and countless other components such as the handcrafted center console. Even the tank was moved to the interior and, like the roll cage, was painted completely in gold. The tiny part currently only weighs about 900 kg and is therefore anything but underpowered due to the 160PS. The vehicle should be especially suitable for drift events and of course as an advertising message for Yamamoto Works. If we receive more information in a timely manner, there will of course be an update for this report, as always.
