For more and more classic automobiles, the suspension manufacturer KW automotive is introducing sports suspensions that are adjustable in height and driving comfort. These “Raab-Classics coilover kits made by KW” are now available for the timeless ʹ02 BMW Cabriolets - 1600 Cabrio (Type 114 C, 1600-2) and 2002 Cabrio or Targa (E10). The shock absorbers developed by Raab-Classics in cooperation with KW and manufactured in Fichtenberg are independently adjustable in compression and rebound (12 and 16 clicks). This allows the driving behavior of the convertibles built between 1968 and 1975 to be tailored to personal driving demands. The height adjustment allows these coilovers to be lowered continuously from 25 to 45 millimeters on the front axle and 20 to 40 millimeters on the drive axle. For the "Raab-Classics coilover kits made by KW", the original front axle struts must be sent to the KW specialist dealer or directly to the chassis manufacturer KW automotive for processing. The recommended retail price for the coilover kit is 2.239 euros and gives the classic BMW convertibles from the late sixties and early seventies a modern feel. More at www.kwsuspensions.de

BMW classics receive modern driving behavior for more safety in "everyday classic cars"

Many spare parts for classic vehicles are mostly still the state of the art when they were launched on the market at the time. This is not the case with the "Raab-Classics coilover kit made by KW". The chassis manufacturer uses an intelligent damper valve technology with preconfigured and pre-tensioned high-speed valves in the compression and rebound stages in the production of the vibration dampers (shock absorbers) used in classic chassis. In addition, the dampers have adjustable valves in the low-speed range. “When we use the terms low-speed and high-speed range, we don't mean the driving speed,” says KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. “We mean the piston rod speed in the damper. A typical low-speed stimulus is, for example, a steering movement and so the handling of the classic BMW convertible can be set more directly with the adjustable low-speed valves, separately in the compression and rebound stages with twelve or 16 clicks, "explains Jonas Ehrmann.

“Even the pitching and rolling of the body structure when turning, braking and starting can be fine-tuned with the low-speed compression level with twelve clicks. The compression stage also has an influence on the tire grip. ”When driving over large transverse joints or bumps in the ground, all compression valve channels open and the piston rod can plunge. In simple terms, the wheel compresses harmoniously in the event of a bump and the tire does not lose traction even at high speeds on poor roads. Thanks to this modern damper technology, the BMW full convertibles and Targa convertibles equipped with a "Raab-Classics coilover kit made by KW" with modern tire compounds drive in a sporty, harmonious manner and with an amazingly high level of residual comfort.

max. lowering VA 25 to 45 / HA 20 to 40 mm

And this even when the maximum lowering is exhausted; which can be set on the front axle from 114 to 10 millimeters and on the rear axle from 25 to 45 millimeters on these BMW classic cars (type 20 C and E40). When ordering a "Raab-Classics coilover kit made by KW", the original front axle struts must be sent to the KW specialist dealer or directly to the chassis manufacturer for processing. There the struts are rebuilt with the modern KW dampers. The recommended retail price for the coilover kit is 2.239 euros.
