Orange monster - 1964 Ford Ranchero with +1.200 hp!

The genus of the so-called UtesPickups based on limousines and having an extremely low vehicle height are all but extinct these days. After Ford and Holden ceased production of their Falcon and Commodore mid-range sedans in Australia, there are only very few vehicles of this type left that are now mainly intended for the South American market. But even in the USA there were times when, for example, a Chevrolet el Camino or a Ford Rancher were absolute bestsellers, and defined the vehicle class of sedans with loading space. Such a Ford Ranchero, which as a Restomod project within 18 Monaten was rebuilt and heavily modified, we now introduce you to today.

former SEMA exhibit

The orange ranchero was presented at the SEMA in Las Vegas in 2018, but did not attract much attention there because it was unluckily placed in a corner. Also on the US TV show Bitchin 'ride the Ford was featured in the 14th episode of the sixth season. The new paint job is a custom-made product from AkzoNobel bearing the name Sweet & Sour hears, and the ute lies with his Airride chassis extremely deep so that it almost sticks to the street. In addition, the pages were complete cleared and the door handles and the flap of the bed remote. The PS monster, whose engine performance we will go into in more detail, also rolls up chrome wheels in five-spoke design, and has a specially made Grill, Also the filler cap was through a Hot Match filler neck replaced on the loading area. The highlight of the exterior are undoubtedly the two turbocharger, which are placed on the bed because they have no more space in the engine compartment. This makes the loading area unusable, but it just looks damn cool. There were also two fat, round ones tailpipes attached through which the exhaust gases from the Ranchero can escape.

Modern comfort equipment found its way into the interior.

The interior has also been completely restored so that it is in perfect condition. Modern comfort features like electrically adjustable seats with memory function or a Air conditioning Moving into the Ranchero. Otherwise, the cockpit looks absolutely contemporary and is certainly a dream for every vintage fan.

9,8 liter displacement speak for themselves!

You may hardly think it possible, but under the hood there is actually something going on 9,8 liter V8 with BiTurbo conversionwhich was built by Jon Kaase. Even more incredible is the fact that this displacement monster has found space under the flat bonnet of the Ranchero. The power of this amazing engine is included about 1.200 PS, and the torque should also be well in the four-digit range. The whole car is more of a dragster than a pickup, and accordingly it comes with one 2-stage Powerglide gear equipped by GM. Such a vehicle is definitely not suitable for the street, but at most for the drag strip. But you have to consider how many hours of work are in this treasure, and what value such a thing Restomod project has.

Our conclusion on this Ford Ranchero:

750.000 US Dollars sound astronomical at first, but given the money and the hours of work that went into this project, it is understandable that the value of this unique car is so highly valued. US car fans are unlikely to be amazed at the performance data, and the perfection of the Restomod can be clearly seen.
