1984 Mercedes 190 with 6 liter V12 engine! No baby benz!

This 190 from the year 1984, which listens to the factory code W201, may appear very plain and inconspicuous on the outside. Just like his brothers, who heralded the era of Baby-Benz and have now matured into a coveted classic in their original state, he looks absolutely unsportsmanlike and rather old-fashioned, and you can't see that 190 in the least that he is fist-thick under the hood. Painted in innocent silver and fitted with contemporary aluminum rims, this Baby Benz, which is registered in the Netherlands, is the ultimate sleeper car. Before the unusual performance cure, this model was driven by a 90 hp 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, which did not even have an injection but a carburetor and was therefore equipped without a catalytic converter.

Interior with bordeaux red leather

Before we take a closer look at the unusual engine swap, it should be mentioned once again that every effort has been made in the interior to create a visual highlight from the once boring 190. The entire interior was wrapped in burgundy leather to give a certain upper class feeling to this model. Otherwise, the interior was not changed much, in contrast to the entire interior of the vehicle.

6-liter V12 from the 600 SEL

In order to accommodate the twelve-cylinder engine with a massive 6-liter displacement in the small 190, various modifications in the engine compartment were necessary, because there is no room for such a large engine in the standard engine compartment of this car. The modifications in the engine compartment, which made it possible for the twelve-cylinder to move in, took no less than 6 months. For example, all of the technology, such as the starter, alternator and the like, had to be relocated to give the large V12 enough space under the hood. In addition, ventilation slots had to be made in the headlights so that the new engine can be supplied with sufficient cooling air. Such a system is otherwise only known from the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and it was necessary in order not to overheat the engine at full load. The power of the unit amounts to an insane 424 hp and 585 Newton meters of maximum torque, and the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km / h with the monster Benz, which weighs only around 1400 kg, takes about 3 seconds. Even more impressive, however, is the time of 100-150 km / h, which is specified as 4 seconds, and the sprint of 100-200 km / h which should only be around 11 seconds. The top speed is specified as a crazy 350 km / h, which would make the tuned Benz as fast as a Lamborghini Aventador S.

further conversions of the vehicle

But we are still far from the end of the Latin when it comes to conversions, because numerous other modifications have been made to this car, such as the installation of a five-speed automatic from the Mercedes CL 600, or the installation of the steering of a Mercedes E-Class W210. But that's not all, because the most unusual conversion measure is probably the installation of the wheel suspension of the biggest rival, the BMW E36. The rims mentioned above also come from a Mercedes CL 600.

This Benz is guaranteed to be a one-off

You have to be a little crazy to build such a car, but it takes a lot of courage and creativity to realize such a project. Hats off to the performance of the tuner, who has managed to turn a once so staid Mercedes W201 into a sleeper car that is second to none. If we receive timely information on further changes to the V12 Mercedes 190 E, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
