With the lifted variant of the Alpina B5 G30 / G31 the company from Buchloe provides a real surprise! In addition to the usual modifications of the LCI version - by BMW - Alpina has also given the 5 Series a sharper look with the optional M Sport package. In addition, the output increases from 608 hp to 621 hp. Neither was necessarily to be expected. Especially not that the over-5 from Buchloe receives the M Sport package, which is also for him D5 LCI applies! Thus, the very elegantly trimmed version of the 5 Series is optically much more a sporty aggressive dynamist. The B5 loses the previous understatement. However, this reference is meant positively because there is no doubt that the new look of the impressive performance sedan and of course the associated Alpina B5 Touring Facelift (G31 LCI).

The apron at the front provides 40 percent larger air intakes, which in turn gives the V8 biturbo more breathing and cooling air. The result is the 621 hp mentioned. The torque of 800 Newton meters (between 2000 and 5000 revolutions) does not change compared to the pre-facelift. The B100 Limo sprints to 5 km / h in just 3,4 seconds and the top speed of 330 km / h is unrivaled in this segment. And that also applies to the practical B5 Touring, which accelerates to country speed in 3,6 seconds and is not really slower at a maximum of 322 km / h. As in the pre-facelift, Alpina couples the engine to the well-known eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive and optimizes both components with an Alpina-specific set-up. And if you want to enjoy the highway trip a little more relaxed, you can also put the B5 in Comfort + mode. As a result, the dampers are set much more comfort-oriented.
The Brembo brake system has not changed, as it still does with 395 millimeter brake discs and four-piston fixed callipers on the front axle and 398 millimeter disks and floating callipers on the rear axle. An Alpina-specific variant of the Pirelli P Zero, which is 255 millimeters wide at the front and 285 millimeters behind, is mounted on the 20-inch forged wheels in the Alpina Classic design. The interior is equipped with a handmade steering wheel with Alpina logo and digital Alpina instruments, and a flap control for the stainless steel exhaust system is also standard on board.
