Now it is official - Audi presented the 25 RS2020 Avant (C6) with 8 PS & 600 NM just in time for the 800th anniversary of the RS models. And right from the front it looks difficult to A7 with a little R8 -> in a positive sense. The RS6 got the hood of the A7 with power dome and also the headlights of the group brother. This has the advantage that it can be equipped with "RS matrix LED laser technology" and thus has another unique selling point. In addition, as expected, the huge apron with large air intakes including R8 airs and of course there were widened fenders for an increase of 40 mm on each side. And Audi has thirteen different colors for the RS 6 at the start. Including Nardo gray and Sebring black crystal effect, five matt effect paint finishes and various optics packages in aluminum matt, black the carbon.

In the wheel arches, 22 custom alloy wheels are available on request and 21 cast aluminum wheels with 275 / 35 slippers are standard. At the rear, the supermodel comes with an RS-typical exhaust system with oval chrome-colored tailpipes that can optionally be ordered as RS sports exhaust system with black tailpipes. The most important thing is found under the hood. Here sits a four-liter biturbo V8 of the proud 600 PS and 800 Newtonmeter torque distributed between 2.100 and 4.500 tours to all four wheels. This means 3,6 seconds at 100 km / h and after 12 seconds the RS 6 already reaches the 200 sound barrier. As always, at 250 km / h, the propulsion is limited electronically. If you have ordered the optional dynamics package, it goes up to 280 km / h and with the dynamics package plus package even on 305.

with a 48 Volt mains onboard

And the RS6 also comes with an 48 Volt mains onboard. A belt starter generator acts as the central component of a mild hybrid system (MHEV). Thus, with low delays, up to 12 kilowatts of power can be gained, which are then stored in a separate lithium-ion battery. And Audi has also installed a cylinder deactivation. The factory-installed eight-speed tiptronic with improved shifting times even has a new launch control function, making it possible to launch a catapult in the first place. And of course there is also the permanent four-wheel drive four in the new RS6. It distributes the drive forces in the ratio 40: 60 via a mechanical center differential. At most 70 percent of the forces can be given to the front or 85 percent to the rear.

optional 22 Zöller and ceramic brake system

And the standard air suspension RS-adaptive air suspension with regulated damping ensures plenty of comfort, even with 22 Zöllern. It was only RS-specific and allows 50 percent higher spring rate. The RS 6 Avant is 20 millimeters lower compared to a normal A6 and at 120 km / h and above, it drops once again by 10 millimeters. For the underground car park, a lift mode ensures an undamaged front bumper. Too much technology? Then the RS sports suspension plus can also be ordered with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). It comes with steel springs and three-stage adjustable dampers. Further highlights are the sportive progressive steering (with dynamics or dynamics plus package there is a dynamic four-wheel steering) and the RS steel brake system with perforated 420 & 470 mm discs (optional RS ceramic brake with 440 & 370 mm discs).

And in the cabin everything is typical RS. There is even the new display "RS-Monitor" (shows temperature status of the drive components, G-values, tire pressure etc.), the well-known Audi virtual cockpit with Schaltblitz display, an optional RS-Head-up display and even the camera-based trailer assistant can obstruct. The new Audi RS 6 Avant will be available at the beginning of 2020 and, for the first time, it will also be available in North America.
