Bentley announced today a final edition of the flagship Mulsanne, the incomparable luxury sedan. The exquisite Mulsanne 6.75 Edition by Mulliner is limited to only 30 exclusive copies and is a worthy farewell to a true masterpiece of automotive engineering and craftsmanship from Great Britain. As inspiration - and namesake - of this vehicle serves the legendary 6¾-liter engine, which celebrates the 2020th year of its continuous production in 60. When production of the Mulsanne is discontinued after the completion of the thirty 6.75 Edition vehicles, the brand new Flying Spur takes over the role as Bentley's flagship model and will be at the helm of the exquisite Bentley vehicle family. The Flying Spur will have a hybrid drive by 2023, so this move is symbolic of Bentley's determination to address changes toward sustainable luxury mobility of the future. The most coveted luxury automobile brand in the world has already taken its first step on the path to electrification with the introduction of the Bentayga Hybrid.

Mulsanne played a major role

The luxury SUV is the first model in this vehicle segment to be a real plug-in hybrid - and at the same time Bentley's most efficient vehicle to date. “The Mulsanne played a key role in maintaining Bentley's position as the world leader in luxury sedans. The flagship of our model family and its long-term success are proof of our absolute dedication to handcraft the world's finest vehicles. The new Mulsanne 6.75 Edition is the culmination of this success story. The decision to discontinue production of the Mulsanne in spring 2020 comes at a time when we can see a significant increase in customer demand in our other existing model lines. We will therefore use all of the employees who have been entrusted with manufacturing the Mulsanne in other areas of our company. ”Statement: Chris Craft from Bentley. The truly unique Mulsanne 6.75 Edition from Mulliner pays homage to one of the most legendary vehicles in Bentley's glamorous history.

537 PS and 1.100 Nm torque

It is based on the current Mulsanne Speed with 537 hp and 1.100 Nm torque, the most active sedan that has been developed to date in the ultra-luxury segment. Subtle references to the 6¾-liter V8 can be found throughout the vehicle:

  • The registers of the ventilation nozzles are replaced by controls that are decorated with miniature versions of the oil tank caps.
  • The seat covers are finished with an exclusive 6.75 Edition motif, which can also be found on the chrome emblems on the body and in the engine compartment. In addition, this emblem is projected onto the floor by the LED greeting lights.
  • The dials of the clock and the secondary displays will show schematic sectional drawings of the engine.

Trim strips in high-gloss black on the vehicle body will underline the customer's individual color scheme, while the headlights and tail lights are set in brilliant chrome. The dark tint of the Flying B hood ornament, the Mulliner Serenity grille and the tailpipes emphasize the lines at the front and rear of the vehicle, while the five-spoke Mulsanne Speed 21-inch wheel with its uniquely polished surface and shiny black gaps is a visual highlight the profile view. Under the hood, the intake manifold is black instead of traditional silver, and the badge with the engine number - otherwise signed by the specialist who made the engine - is signed by Adrian Hallmark, Bentley's chairman and chief executive. The abundance of exclusive equipment elements continues in the interior. A color combination available in four basic shades - Imperial Blue, Beluga, Fireglow and Newmarket Tan - sets accents throughout the interior with seat piping in silver and leather surfaces in a contrasting color on the center console and the edging of the high-pile carpet mats.

Silver lacquered veneer in the interior

This contrasting color is also evident from the perforated leather on the seats and door inserts. Silver lacquered veneer gives the center console in the rear and in the area of the central instrument panel the finishing touch. In the front area, the console is also provided with a metal plaque. The instrument panels themselves and the door trim strips are finished in high-gloss Grand Black, whereby the upper door strips are also finished with inlays in dark-tinted Engine Spin aluminum. The Bentley Mulsanne is a legendary four-door sedan that set new standards in the luxury segment when it was first introduced in 1980. The 6¾-liter engine of the Mulsanne, designed, constructed and handcrafted in Crewe, England, is also the V8 of this type, which is the longest continuously produced in series worldwide. This powerful engine was first installed in the 1959 Bentley S2. Over the decades, the engine has been revised frequently, but the basic principles and dimensions that have defined the engine for six decades have remained the same.
