In the United States, the VW Jetta is the best-selling Wolfsburg model, and has been for more than 30 years. In Germany, always misunderstood as a bourgeois wallflower, it is loved by customers in the USA, which has an affinity for saloons, namely young and old. Sport-oriented VW fans in particular love the performance variant of the rather down-to-earth VW Jetta, which listens to the GLI addition, while in Europe the Golf GTI is the favorite of PS-loving Volkswagen fans.

Volkswagen is not exactly known for exciting designs, and so the VW Jetta GLI is also very simply designed and, in contrast to its more civil brothers, refined with a few sporty details that are also known in this country from the Golf GTI. For example, a red stripe adorns the trapezoidal grill, which is otherwise all black, with a honeycomb look, which is downright huge by VW standards. In addition, the “GLI” model designation was kept in red to indicate to the other road users that it is not just a plain VW Jetta, but the performance variant. In addition, the Jetta GLI rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels with a special GLI design, which are also optionally available in the currently very popular matt black, which house red brake calipers that are part of the model's high-performance braking system. In order to clearly manifest the sporty aspirations, the sporty Jetta also has a twin-pipe exhaust system with symmetrically arranged tailpipes at the rear and an indicated diffuser.
The interior is based on the current VW Polo.
In terms of design, the interior picks up on the design of the T-Cross, T-Roc and Polo models, and the digital cockpit, which is optionally available with the GLI, testifies to the arrival of modernism in the current Jetta. There is also a Wi-Fi hotspot, leather seats and sporty insignia such as various driving programs that contain a dynamic mode, and a performance monitor that shows G-forces, the power called up, and Turbo Boost. Last but not least, the sporty Jetta GLI also has ambient lighting, which can be set in 10 different colors.
The sporty heart is known from various other models of the VW group.
The 2-liter turbo petrol engine with direct injection, which bears the factory code EA888, functions as the drive source and is used in various sporty models from the VW Group. This unit in the VW Jetta GLI produces 230 hp and 350 Newton meters of maximum torque. Equipped in this way, the standard sprint from zero to 100 km / h takes just over 6 seconds, and the limited-slip differential called VAQ ensures that the power sedan safely puts its power on the road. VW does not give details of the top speed of the Jetta GLI, but it should be around 230 km / h. Thus, the former Biedermann is not arsonized, but the 230 horses are always sufficient for brisk motorway journeys and sporting ambitions.
Jetta GLI could also find fans in Germany.
With its sporty touch and the fact that VW has a lot of fans all over the world, the Jetta GLI would also have cult status here if it were officially offered in Germany and the rest of Europe. Built at the VW plant in Chattanooga in Tennessee, USA, it is also sold there and, as already mentioned above, finds many fans and enthusiasts in the United States of America. In any case, it would be interesting to know whether the Jetta GLI also had good cards in Europe, for example to chase away a few buyers from its corporate brother, the Audi A3 Sedan.
