World premiere: 2021 Ford Bronco Offroader presented!

Yesterday we got you from Restomodo Ford Bronco by Jay Leno told and only a few hours later Ford unveiled the brand new Bronco as model year 2021. And that should be it Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept with V8, which also celebrated its premiere yesterday, immediately intimidate something. Because the hardcore off-roader undoubtedly attacks the Jeep Wrangler customers. The Bronco comes as a two- and four-door model with a hardtop and the available models can be seen in our videos embedded below. The Bronco has removable doors as two- and four-door models, there is a removable hardtop and robust technology with a ladder frame and a rigid axle at the rear. Finally, the next boring SUV is not on the market, but once again a real off-roader for sticks and stones. The new model is formally and conceptually close to the original Bronco and should therefore cause a lot of enthusiasm.

However, the success of the four-door Wrangler Unlimited has not been hidden from Ford, so that a family-friendly variant with four doors was also pushed behind. And what about one Pickup in the form of the gladiator? Who knows what the future holds! But for the time being, we only deal with the present, there is enough to tell here. The currently available models are equipped with various off-road technology packages according to customer requirements. The base has a mechanically switchable all-wheel drive and a transfer case with automatic all-wheel drive is optionally available. The switchable off-road reduction is standard and Ford has an independent wheel suspension, unlike the Jeep. However, both axles have selectable differential locks. The drive is initially taken over by two petrol engines.

V6 with 310 PS & 542 NM torque

A four-cylinder with 2,3-liter displacement (Ecoboost) and 270 SAE-PS & 420 NM and a more powerful 2,7-liter V6 with 310 PS & 542 NM. And for a surcharge there is the “Trail Toolbox” package, which bundles various electronic driving aids. For example, an off-road “cruise control”, steering assistance, a mode for so-called “One Pedal Driving” and all of this is optimally used thanks to the impressive 29 centimeters of ground clearance. If you equip the Bronco with the optional 35 inch (0,89 m) tires, there should be no stopping in the field. And the maximum fording depth of 85 centimeters specified by Ford is only calculated with "normal" tires. With the 35 Zöllern even more is possible. The underbody of the Bronco is protected by underride mudguards and side rock sliders as rocker panels which, according to Ford, have been extensively tested for the “King of the Hammers” competition.

Manual or automatic

By the way, it is shifted using a “seven-speed” transmission that uses first gear as a “crawl” gear with a low gear ratio. Alternatively, a ten-speed automatic is also available. And so that a successful open-air feeling arises, Ford relies on a solution with a partially or completely removable hardtop that can be painted on request. The Bronco's cabin has robust, washable and dust-proof surfaces and plenty of contemporary technology. The new Bronco, for example, has installed the fourth generation of the Ford SYNC system, which, among other things, enables over-the-air updates. With a new function, a special navigation system for off-road routes is integrated, which, according to Ford, includes over 1.000 different off-road trails.

Who builds a V8 in the Bronco?

The five different equipment variants at the beginning provide a lavish selection and the exclusive first edition version in particular should be well received. At the prices, however, one remains partially covered. The three-door base model is said to be available for $ 29.995 (approx. € 26.400). We are excited to see whether the new Bronco can achieve the legendary status of the original Bronco from 1966. It is certainly a good option for off-road enthusiasts. Whether it will be enough to knock the bestseller Jeep Wrangler Rubicon off the throne remains to be seen. Tuner like Hennessey performance have already announced the first components and it is certain that the first will soon stuff a V8 into the Bronco.
