Porsche Motorsport is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Manthey-Racing GmbH with an extraordinary special model. The 30 GT911 RS Clubsport 2, limited to 25 units, was designed and developed by Porsche and Manthey for track day and circuit use. Like the Porsche 2018 presented in 935, it is based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and is also powered by a 3,8-liter, 515 kW (700 hp) six-cylinder boxer engine with twin-turbo charging. The power reaches the rear wheels via a seven-speed Porsche double clutch transmission. The independent design of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 takes up many vehicle components and elements of well-known and future racing cars from Porsche. Technically and aerodynamically, it bridges the gap between two model generations of the XNUMX.

“Since the team was founded 25 years ago, Porsche Motorsport and Manthey have won numerous races and championships together, including seven victories in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The two companies have belonged together since 2013. With the independent special model 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, this successful partnership has now reached the next level, ”explains Matthias Scholz, overall project manager for GT racing vehicles. “The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 benefits from the experience that Manthey and Porsche Motorsport gain in competition around the world. It is the perfect circuit device for ambitious private drivers and an impressive piece of engineering. "

The inspiration for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 was provided by the green and yellow 911 GT3 R from Manthey, which is also known as “Grello” among Nürburgring long-distance fans because of its bright wrapping - a word created from “green” for green and "Yellow" results in yellow. Targeted accents in these colors underline this. The many advanced add-on parts also reflect the know-how that Manthey has acquired in motorsport over the past quarter of a century. Grant Larson, Style Porsche, then took care of the visual fine-tuning. Larson has already designed legendary racing cars such as the 911 RSR and 911 GT3 R as well as the modern 935.

Manthey's know-how in motorsport over the past quarter century

“The design of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 visualizes the longstanding collaboration between Porsche Motorsport and Manthey,” emphasizes Larson. “It bundles the respective strengths of both partners in one racing car, but at the same time it bridges the gap between the 911 model generations 991 and 992. Manthey contributed the basic concept and the technical ideas, while Porsche provided the final design. We used the characteristic colors of the Manthey 'Grello' to specifically highlight certain functional areas of the vehicle. "

As with the modern Porsche 935, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport of the 991 generation provides the basis for the limited special model. The central cooler concept is one of its defining features. It is similar to that of the 911 GT3 R and has several advantages: Its always optimal air flow keeps the engine temperature under control over a wide range of applications, while the new position better protects the radiator from damage through external contact. The completely redeveloped front apron was given a central inlet for optimum air flow. Their double-decker flicks on the outside increase the downforce on the front axle, as with the "Grello". In addition, the vehicle has a closed underbody. The carbon fiber front hood has also been completely redesigned. Its two large outlets, separated by a central bar, direct the hot exhaust air over the roof towards the rear wing, similar to the 911 GT3 R. A central naca opening - combined with the Porsche coat of arms - supplies fresh air to the cockpit.

The new cooling concept means that the side coolers in the wheel arches can be dispensed with. This benefits the direct flow to the front wheel brakes, which in this way maintain a stable temperature level for longer. As with the modern 935, the wide flared fenders open into a vertical opening for air discharge. Its horizontal center bar shines in the typical "Grello" colors of the 911 GT3 R from Manthey - a subtle design feature that is repeated on the extended wheel arches of the rear axle. They are connected to the front fenders by a sill strip and have a large, also two-part air inlet.

911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 takes over essential components of the 935

In terms of chassis, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 takes over essential components of the modern 935, including the lush dimensions of the 18-inch rims with central locking. In conjunction with the corresponding offsets, this leads to a significant widening of the track compared to the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. The electronic control systems and the steering gear also correspond to the modern 935.

The rear of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 has also been extensively modified. The rear wing receives new sideplates and gooseneck wing supports, which enable an uninterrupted flow. The particularly wide rear spoiler protrudes into the body and, like on the modern 935, acts as an all-round spoiler lip - an aerodynamic element that already distinguished the first MR model from Manthey. It was still based on the Porsche 911 generation 996. New ventilation openings in the trunk lid below the rear window accelerate the air circulation in the engine compartment of the special model. The design of the functional diffuser, optimized by Manthey, forms the framework for the newly designed exhaust system. Their tailpipes are a visual highlight. The rain taillight meets the latest regulatory requirements and is also used in this form in the new 911 GT3 Cup (generation 992).

The characteristic features of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 also include the main racing headlights with a four-stripe design. In principle, they come from the Le Mans winner 911 RSR, but have been further developed specifically for the special model and impress with their particularly efficient lighting of the track. The indicators are integrated to save space. The interior, including the welded-in safety cell, corresponds to the FIA standard of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. A plaque indicates the limited edition.

Another milestone in Manthey's 25-year history

“With the special model 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, designed by us and developed together with Porsche Motorsport, we have reached another milestone in the 25-year history of Manthey. It expresses our guiding principle 'Closer to Perfection' in an exemplary way ”, emphasizes Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey-Racing GmbH. “With every single modification, the technical function was clearly in the foreground for us. That is why the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 has its very own character, which also reflects our brand values: straightforwardness and meticulousness, flexibility and uncompromising attitude. "

25 years of Manthey - from racing team to versatile company

Manthey-Racing GmbH was founded in 1996 by racing driver Olaf Manthey and has been closely associated with Porsche ever since. The company based in Meuspath on the Nordschleife is responsible, among other things, for the works outing with the Porsche 911 RSR in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). In the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) and in the 24-hour race on the Eifel circuit, Manthey drives a 911 GT3 R, which the fans have taken to the heart as "Grello". With him, Kévin Estre (France), Michael Christensen (Denmark) and Matteo Cairoli (Italy) clinched their seventh overall victory in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring for the traditional team on the first weekend in June. In addition to its motorsport successes, the company has also made a name for itself as a specialist in GT road models. The portfolio is completed by solutions and development services in the field of engineering for motorsport customers as well as the range of driving experiences and motorsport events. Since 2013, Porsche AG has held a 51 percent majority stake in the GmbH, which today employs around 200 people and is managed by co-owners Nicolas and Martin Raeder.
