Tribute to 25 years of sportiness: 2024 Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 years

Audi is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its legendary RS Avant 4 with a very special edition: the Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 years. The special edition, which comes in a bright Imola Yellow paintwork, is limited to just 250 units in Europe and delivers 20 hp more than the standard model. In the 90s, Audi brought the sports station wagon onto the market with the Avant RS2 and the S6 plus and thus set standards. The first RS model from quattro GmbH (today Audi Sport GmbH) was the RS 4 Avant of the B5 generation from 1999, which was equipped with a wider body and the powerful 2,7-liter biturbo six-cylinder. The engine, developed in collaboration with Cosworth, produced a massive 380 hp.

Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 years

In 2001, the sportiest version of the first RS-4 generation, the RS 4 Sport, came onto the market. With additional features such as a lowered suspension, bucket seats, a sports exhaust and a suede steering wheel, it was an eye-catcher. Based on the iconic design, the RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years was created, the sportiest version of the current B9 series.

More power, better performance

The new RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years impresses with a further developed V6 biturbo, which now produces 470 hp (346 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Newton meters. That's an increase of 20 hp compared to the normal RS 4 Avant. Thanks to the performance increase, it accelerates from 3,7 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds - an improvement of 0,4 seconds. The top speed is a strong 300 km/h.

Improvements to the chassis and handling

For optimal performance, the RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years is equipped with the RS sports suspension pro as standard. The manually adjustable coilover suspension delivers a perfect balance between comfort and performance and lowers the vehicle by another 10 millimeters than the standard version. A manual lowering of a further 10 millimeters is also possible, which means a total reduction of 20 millimeters.

The Quattro sport differential ensures more rear emphasis depending on the driving mode and the revised transmission software enables faster shift times. The negative camber on the front axle was also increased to two degrees and stiffer wishbone bearings were installed, which improved grip and handling. A rigidly connected subframe on the rear axle and an improved Torsen differential also contribute to increased precision and overall performance.

High-performance tires and exclusive features

The RS 4 Avant as a 25 year edition is equipped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tires that are suitable for both the road and the racetrack. The tires are mounted on glossy-milled 20-inch light metal aluminum in matt palladium. And customers also receive a set of sensor-equipped semi-slicks from the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS brand as well as the Pirelli Track Adrenaline system. This provides real-time information about tire pressure and temperature and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The eye-catching design in Imola yellow

And another highlight is the paintwork of the edition model. In addition to the eye-catching Imola yellow, the colors Nardo gray and Mythos black are also available. The black, shiny trim strips and Audi rings as well as the darkened matrix LED headlights give the Ingolstadt car a striking look. The rear door and side windows are equipped with darkened sun protection glass as standard, and the lettering “RS 4 edition 25 years” is embossed in the windows between the C and D pillars.

The matt carbon optics package, which is available exclusively for the Edition, includes front blades, side flaps, inserts for the sill extensions, the diffuser clip and mirror caps in matt carbon. And the interior also impresses with details such as yellow decorative stitching, which is reminiscent of the black and yellow leather-Alcantara combination of the RS 4 Sport from 2001.

Interior: luxury and exclusivity

And the exclusive design continues in the interior. The floor mats have an RS 4 logo, and the traditional red Audi Sport diamond and the black RS lettering are now in yellow. The steering wheel, the leather armrest and the Alcantara center console as well as the gearshift boot also have yellow stitching. The RS bucket seats with honeycomb quilting and the carbon backrest impress with a combination of deep black leather and Dinamica with yellow contrasting stitching. “RS 4” lettering under the headrest and white logos on the door sills round off the elegant interior.

A matte center console with consecutive numbering indicates that the model is limited to 250 copies. Using the MMI, customers can even select a white-background speed and speed display that is reminiscent of the Audi Avant RS2 from 1994. And the launch control uses traffic light symbols to show the ideal moment to start.

Exclusive options and prices

Customers can opt for a flattened suede steering wheel with a 12 o'clock marker that features yellow stitching. However, it is recommended to drive the steering wheel with gloves to protect the suede. The price for the suede steering wheel is 2.270 EUR.

RS 5: Also with more power

And not only the RS 4 Avant, the RS 5 also receives a performance update. The V6 biturbo in the new RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition also generates 470 hp and a maximum torque of 600 Newton meters, which is 20 hp more than the normal RS 5 Sportback. The RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition accelerates from 3,7 to 0 km/h in 100 seconds, an improvement of 0,2 seconds. The top speed here is also 300 km/h. The RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition is also equipped with the RS sports suspension pro including dynamic steering and an improved Torsen differential as standard.

Production details and availability

The Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years is created in cooperation with Audi exclusive and is manufactured together with the A4, S4 and RS 4 in Ingolstadt. Orders for both special models will be possible from June 2024. Prices in Germany start at EUR 142.905 for the RS 4 Avant Edition 25 years and EUR 128.420 for the RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition. The RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years is not only a homage to 25 years of Audi sports station wagon, but also a cool example of technical innovation and exclusive design. With the limited number of units, the increased performance and the numerous exclusive features, it is a must for every Audi fan.
