For the new coilover kit, the chassis manufacturer adapted its successful GT3 motorsport displacement piston technology (KW Solid Piston Technology) for the road. Compared to conventional suspensions, the KW coilover suspension variant 5 dampens more precisely and sensitively. In addition, the dampers in the low-speed and high-speed forces of compression and rebound can be individually fine-tuned with 13 clicks in handling, driving comfort, tire grip and everyday life.

Due to the high demand, the chassis manufacturer is developing chassis for retrofitting for more and more super sports cars and sports cars. Compared to its predecessors, the Corvette C8 Stingray is a completely new car with its mid-engine. "As far as automobile manufacturer Chevrolet said goodbye to the Corvette model roots with the new C8, we have abandoned everyday aftermarket design principles with the variant 5," explains KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. With the KW coilover kit Variant 5, the chassis manufacturer adapted its solid piston damper technology, which was successful in GT3 motorsport, for the road. Since the working piston in the damper is not overflown, completely different damping forces and damper characteristics can be generated. "This type of chassis structure gives us much more freedom in the overall design and we achieve perfect damping even with a small spring deflection." Thanks to the displacement principle, the KW vibration dampers provide better support for the body structure.
Suspension springs with lower spring rates
This structural advantage also enables the use of chassis springs with lower spring rates, which further benefits driving comfort. "With Variant 5, we are creating the perfect balancing act between comfort and driving dynamics," says Jonas Ehrmann. Variant 5 offers the option of further fine-tuning the driving behavior separately in the four parameters of low-speed rebound, low-speed compression, high-speed rebound and high-speed compression. With 13 clicks each valve can be adjusted in the damping, in order to adapt the damping exactly to the individual driving sensation. If the rebound stage is opened, the driving comfort increases. When the rebound valve is closed, the pitching and rolling movements of the body are significantly reduced. The handling is even more direct than in the series. The pressure level enables further influence on the steering behavior, grip level and ride comfort. Simply put, the rebound stage is responsible for connecting the chassis to the road, while the compression stage influences the compression and supports the body structure. "We also use the solid piston technology for active and semi-active damping systems." The recommended retail price is 6.199 euros.
