Restomod cars are more popular than ever! And especially vehicles where you don't see the modern changes right away. A good example would be the one recently presented Acura “Super Handling” SLX with RDX components and also the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette C1 with 5,7-liter V8 is not necessarily immediately distinguishable from the series. And now there is another copy that is based on a restored 1979 Ferrari 512 BB Coupe. The vehicle is almost in the condition of a new car and apart from the rather fat wheelset on the rear axle, the connoisseur should hardly be able to make a difference to the series. But the difference is particularly evident under the bonnet.

the 501 F512 M engine

The 5-liter Boxer V12 does not work here (is not a boxer engine, by the way, but a V-engine with a 180 ° bank angle) with 360 PS, but for a while from the Testarossa successor to the 4,9 liter V12 with an increase in performance to an insane +1.100 PS. Responsible for this was the tuner and owner Bob Norwood from Norwood Auto Italia. Unfortunately, the car with the new engine was not really drivable, so that this engine was not installed forever. And currently it is fired 512 BB by a 501 F512 M (M for Modificata) engine that was ordered directly from Ferrari and now pushes the 440 BB with the factory 500 PS & 512 NM. This means that the flounder is finally drivable again and can be used as a real sports car.

And a large part of the new driving behavior and the impeccably working engine also contribute to the many components from the modern era. For example, there would be the Öhlins-coilover, the new carbon air collectors and the specially made sports exhaust system with titanium silencers from Mark Robles are responsible for the successful driving feeling. Other components are a modified sports brake system, there was a modern air conditioning system and the aforementioned new alloy wheels. It is a multi-part forged wheel set in the style of the 288 GTO-Alus, which, however, have a much more powerful format, especially on the rear axle. If we receive information on further changes in a timely manner, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed about this if you simply use our Feed subscribe to.
