Shelby Parts & Bullitt Power! The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1!

A legend returns! Ford puts Mach 16 back on the road after a 1-year hiatus. The official successor of the Mustang Mach 1 New Edge the fourth generation (2003–2004) has self-confident Mach 1 logos on the aprons and is reminiscent of the legendary pony car from the 1960s. Now the supersonic Mustang is available again in a limited edition. With injected Shelby DNA and an improved 5,0-liter V8 under the striped bonnet. And so that you can immediately see who is being thought about here, Ford relies on a particularly nostalgic design. The graphics and stripes are based on the original from 1969, which also applies to the round inlets in the grill. No headlights can be seen on the current model, but the large air intakes are no less chic.

And the new one also has to do without the well-known Shaker Hood. However, some older models had to do that, because the hood was not standard. There is now the so-called coyote intake for enough fresh air from the 5,0-liter V8. In Mach 1, it delivers an impressive 487 hp (358 kW), which in the States is equivalent to the performance of the Mustang Bullitt. But the Bullitt is not available with the modern 10-speed automatic. The Mach 1 against it already! If you prefer to pilot the muscle car manually, you can alternatively order a new Tremec six-speed manual transmission with double-declutching function and the ratio of the Shelby GT350. And from the Shelby GT350 comes the cooler, from the GT500 is the rear axle cooling and even the front and rear subframes are Shelby parts with stiffer bushings.

In combination with stiffer stabilizers and springs as well as adapted steering, the driving behavior should differ significantly from the standard Mustang. And the Mach 1 also looks different from the normal Mustang. There is a rear diffuser with four large 4,5-inch tailpipes, a sporty front splitter and a covered underbody. The Mach 1 achieves an impressive 22% more downforce than the conventional GT with the performance pack Level 1. Incidentally, Ford positions the Mach 1 as a middle point between the GT and Shelby vehicles, but Ford Icons Director Dave pericak sees the 2021 Mach 1 as "The most track-ready 5,0 liter Mustang ever". The Mach 1 has an independent, deeper front and classic Mach 1 Magnum 500 five-spoke rims.

If you don't like them, you can alternatively use a performance edition. And the Mach 1 will even get the GT500 wing with Gurney flap and orange Brembo brakes. If you really want to go to the racetrack, the braking system in particular should be an important criterion. The cabin of the Mach1, however, is only relatively subtly revised. There is a new screen for the instruments, Recaro seats, a new gear lever, Mach 1 door sills and a badge with the consecutive chassis number. Whether the limited edition will also come to Germany is currently questionable, as is the exact number. If we receive timely information, there is of course an update for this report.
