Back with a bang: Lancia introduces the 2024 Ypsilon HF!

Finally the time has come! Lancia has officially announced the Ypsilon HF, the sporty version of the new small electric car. Sales will start in May 2025. Rumors about this have been circulating for some time, but now it is confirmed: the Ypsilon HF will expand the model range. The sports version comes with whopping 177 kW under the hood, compared to the 115 kW of the “normal version” that is already available in many Stellantis vehicles based on the eCMP modular system is known. It's no coincidence that this reminds us of him abarth 600e, because both vehicles share the proper performance information. And that too Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica 240 fits in here.

2024 Lancia Ypsilon HF

What does that mean in numbers? The Lancia Ypsilon HF accelerates in just 5,8 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h, while the Alfa for it 6,0 seconds needed. The exact value for the Abarth is still pending. In addition, the HF is equipped with a lowered bodyto wider track and a muscular design show off. So far there is only one picture of the front, but a detailed picture gives hope for even more highlights. A look inside: The interior of the Ypsilon HF has hardly changed from the series, apart from that HF logo on the steering wheel. Sales of the sports version are scheduled to begin with the market launch of the Ypsilon in Germany in 2025. Lancia has not yet revealed whether the sports version will be available before, at the same time or after the standard version. But, the Ypsilon HF is just the beginning of a whole series of HF models.

Gamma and Delta as HF

Also the future models Gamma and Delta should get sporty HF variants. HF stands for “High Fidelity” and has a long tradition at Lancia. The history of the abbreviation goes back to the Geneva Motor Show in 1960, when a club of Lancia fans chose it as a sign of their loyalty to the brand. Later, HF graced Lancia's sports cars and in 1963 even became a racing team with the name HF Squadra Corse founded. Interestingly, the elephant has a special meaning for Lancia as a lucky charm. Gianni Lancia, son of the company founder, saw the elephant as a symbol of unstoppability, which fits perfectly with the brand's sporting ambitions.

Partnership with Cassina

Next to the Ypsilon HF There was even more news at yesterday's online press conference. The partnership with the luxury furniture manufacturer Cassina was further deepened and new financing options were created for the Ypsilon presented. But they could be less relevant since the model won't come onto the market until next year. Another highlight for motorsport fans was the view of the Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF. The combustion engine with 1,2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, three cylinders and round 156 kW (212 PS) promises a lot of driving fun. Equipped with one Five-speed gearbox and a mechanical one locking differential, he should be in the Rally4 category for young pilots.

Stellantis relies on continuity

The drive train of the abarth 600e will not only be in Alfa Junior Elettrica 240, but also used in the new Lancia Ypsilon HF. Absolute technology fans will find this unexciting, but customers seem to be thrilled. So look forward to 2025, because then the Lancia Ypsilon HF will finally hit the streets and bring a breath of fresh air to the sporty small car segment. Get ready for more power, more style and even more exciting driving dynamics!
