Unique - Porsche Boxster (986) as a shooting brake swap!

Those who are less familiar with the Porsche brand should hardly get the idea with this Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake that the vehicle does not correspond to the series and has rolled off the assembly line. But the Boxster of the first 986 series was never available as a shooting brake, only as a Spyder with a soft top. And that also applies to its successor. A few third-party providers like Zeintop, Z-Art-Design etc. had a few idiosyncratic hardtops at the start, but it never became a shooting brake. But this specimen in Miami Blue now combines a sporty two-door car and a mid-engine with the look of a practical station wagon. The vehicle was built by four Dutch students and gave the impetus Erik Groenendijk de Laat who works as a lecturer for vehicle technology at Fontys Hogeschool (University in Eindhoven).

In cooperation with Van Thull Development from Lith (Specialists in composite car bodies) this successful one-off piece was painstakingly handcrafted. And the renovation is more extensive than you might initially think. Because if you look closely you will see that the front comes from a 997 GT3 Carrera, the doors and windows on the other hand from the 996 Carrera and a Peugeot had to serve for the shape of the rear windows and the successful roof line. The most extensive change can of course be seen in the independent rear. Here you use parts from the 991 Carrera and if you would take the rear wiper from the 986 Shooting Brake and give the apron a Porsche emblem or the typical lettering then the rear view would - in our opinion - be perfect. But this can simply be noted when you "order".

Because the shooting brake should actually go into a small series. The guys from Van Thull Development are currently making the shapes for the roof and the rear structure. Work is also being carried out on the door entrances and the rear apron with the central sports exhaust system in order to bring the conversion kit to the Porsche Boxster 986 Shooting Brake to the people several times soon. However, prices are currently "not yet" known. It is also not known whether there is another Shooting Brake in the world that is equipped with a mid-engine. But we believe, apart from ours virtual RS Q8 (is also a little bit shooting brake), rather not ...
