Next year there will be a model increase in the offer of Zuffenhausen. On the basis of the popular SUV Cayenne, a coupe variant of the car will come to the dealers. If you belong to the purist fans of the sports car brand, you could still find your luck with it. Although in the opinion of some fans are already too many SUVs and sedans in the vehicle program of the sports car company to find the company should focus more on the pure sports car sector. But even a traditional brand like Porsche has to adapt to the spirit of the times. The registration numbers give the Zuffenhausen completely right, after all, the SUV models from Porsche belong to the most ordered cars of the company.
The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe will cover one of the last gaps in the market. As a customer you get on the one hand the advantages of an SUV like a comfortable boarding, good all-round visibility thanks to higher driver's seat, quite a sufficient amount of space and of course more ground clearance and therefore off-road capability. On the other hand, one must also accept disadvantages such as a higher vehicle center of gravity and a related lower sports car feeling, a high weight and the associated slowness of the response as well as the lower wind slipperiness. Of course, the designers from Zuffenhausen have tried as much as possible to counteract this with technical measures such as improved units, drive and axles. The body line with its sloping rear end and the flowing rear end as well as the retractable rear spoiler give the Porsche Cayenne Coupe a more distinctly sporty character.
The call that SUVs in our latitudes are more vehicles for housewives and pensioners, hopefully can be countered. Sporty accessories such as air suspension, electric roll stabilization with 48-Volt on-board power supply and a rear-axle steering are therefore part of the 2,1 tons heavy Brummer also to the sporty refresher program. That in a Porsche, even if it is a high off-road vehicle or SUV, the engines deliver maximum performance, is actually a matter of course. So also with the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, where partly the same machines as with the normal Cayenne are installed. These are primarily gasoline engines, of a diesel engine is currently no question. Probably the 3,0-liter turbo base engine with its 340 PS will not be installed, as it seems too weak for a coupe version of the heavy SUV. Thus, the 2,9-liter BiTurbo with its 440 PS is likely to be the engine entry-level version. Real sports fans will be compensated with the top turbo, the 4,0-liter V8 engine with its powerful 550 horsepower, for which Porsche is currently not launching a true new sports car.
In addition, the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe, like the regular SUV sedan, can attract more fans as a very suitable tuning base. As usual at Porsche, many well-known tuners will gladly take care of technical and visual improvements. Thanks to all the mentioned and expected goodies, it might really be worth considering whether you, as a true sports car fan, are not looking at this racing SUV at dealerships next year!
