Acura

Acura - Honda's luxury division for the sporty gentleman. In the year 1986, after Japan loosened export hurdles for expensive cars from local production, Honda decided to become the first Japanese manufacturer to establish a luxury division. In the US, the first Acura, a few years earlier than the arch rivals Lexus (Toyota) and Infiniti (Nissan), was introduced to model year 1987. Thus, Acura is the oldest Japanese-American luxury brand. The first model of the brand, the Legend, which was marketed as Honda Legend in Europe, was a complete success. In 1990, the Acura NSX was introduced, a mid-engine super sports car, which was also distributed in Europe as a Honda. This then cheaper alternative to Italian supercars has now gained cult status and is traded on car exchanges at astronomical prices. Tuning is also very important to Acura, as every modern model in the brand has Honda's legendary VTEC engine with variable valve timing. The flagship in terms of car tuning is the Acura Integra Type R, which may not be missing at any Japan tuning meeting. Today, however, the brand is more known for sporty sedans and SUVs, which combine sporty understatement with luxury, even though there has been a remake of the legendary NSX since 2018, which is the brand's figurehead.
