ABT Sportsline tunes the new VW GOLF VIII R & CO!

In 1982 ABT Sportsline created an icon with the legendary wide-body GTI. Almost 40 years later, the eighth generation of the Golf is already presented ex works with a wide range of sporty variants beyond the normal Gran Turismo injection. In addition to the GTI (245 PS / 180 kW / 370 Nm) and GTI Clubsport (300 PS / 221 kW / 400 Nm) are the GTD (200 PS / 147 kW / 400 Nm) for diesel enthusiasts and the ultimate compact sports car, the Golf R (320 PS / 235 kW / 420 Nm) in the program. The strongest of this quartet offers almost twice as much power ex works as the turbo-fired ABT of the early 80s (163 PS / 120 kW). But in four decades, standards will be shifted completely - and so many drivers still want more power. But no problem, because in the year of the company's 125th anniversary, ABT Sportsline can offer a whole range of performance enhancements * for the top models of the Golf family. The basis is always the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC).

Tuning for VW GOLF VIII R & CO.

The Golf GTI gains 290 hp (213 kW) as a result of the intervention and offers a maximum torque of 410 Nm. The GTD even has 440 Nm and 230 PS (169 kW). The GTI Clubsport is even stronger than these two top athletes from the factory.

On request, ABT Sportsline can even offer 360 HP (265 kW), with a maximum torque of 450 Nm. But if club sport already realizes that much muscle power, what is going on with the Golf R? If you bring it into play, you can look forward to 384 horsepower (282 kW) and 470 Nm after the increase in output has been completed. In addition, ABT Sportsline will soon be offering sportier suspension springs and a tailor-made silencer system for him.

Regardless of the selected base, three attractive wheel designs from ABT Sportsline are available for the Golf GTI, GTD, GTI Clubsport and R. One example is the 19-inch ER-C in matt black. If you want to pull out the 20-inch register, you can choose between the ABT FR in mystic black and the Sport GR in glossy or matt black. The latter two score points with their diamond-turned accents. A comparison with the wide-body GTI from 1982 shows the extent to which the wheel has continued to turn with the rims as well: It rolled on 13-inch wheels on motorways, country roads and boulevards. If we get more information about the changes, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
