Never before have there been so many variants of the GTI as with the MK7 generation. GTI, GTI “Performance”, GTI “Clubsport”, GTI “Clubsport S” and the more powerful “R”, the potent 2.0 TDI GTD and the Swiss model “R360S” are not even included. And since the beginning of the year, the last evolutionary stage has been the 290 hp GTI TCR with EA888 engine that bears the engine code DNU. The name comes from the racing touring car of the same name on which the TCR is based, which in our opinion is a bit thick. Because there are really no big changes compared to the GTI Clubsport. Unless you consider 5 millimeters more lowering, a slightly lighter front brake system, that is now standard Seven-speed DSG and the roof spoiler as an absolute highlight.

And also the 290 PS & 370 NM are compared to the "real" TCR (Touring Car Racing) with 350 PS and 400 NM torque is not really the ultimate. But that is exactly what is changing now with the tuner ABT Sportsline, which brings the production vehicle close to the performance of the Racecar. ABT has pre-buttoned the Golf GTI TCR and donated him the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC) that raises the power to huge 340 PS (250 kW) and 430 NM. A plus of clear 50 PS and 50 NM which ensures that the TCR in only 5,4 seconds (series 5,6) accelerates to 100 km / h and the maximum speed is reached only at 265 km / h. And the suspension can also be further optimized with ABT components.

The tuner from the Allgäu offers its own suspension springs or equal to a complete threaded sports suspension. In addition, for the last bit of fine-tuning, even the ABT sport stabilizers, which can also be combined with the standard suspension if desired. The highlight, however, are in any case the numerous available ABT alloy wheels for the GTi. The photo vehicle, for example, stands on 20 inch ABT GR in glossy black, which allow a generous view of the large GTI brake system with the diamond-turned rim flange. Can you do it!
