Shortly before the market launch of the new compact classic VW Golf 8 tuner ABT Sportsline Another upgrade for the Golf 7 R was issued. Due to the legally prescribed Otto particle filter, the performance of the two-liter, four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine has, as is well known, "dropped" from 310 hp to 300 hp. Only the torque has remained the same at 400 NM. But with the additional control unit Abt Engine Control (AEC), the Allgäu more than make up for the reduced performance. The new Golf VII R with environmentally friendly gasoline particulate filter comes with increased power to 350 PS & 440 NM and is therefore on the level of the R02.2017S built until 360 with 360 PS & 460 NM distributed to all 4 wheels. And the tuner also works on the chassis.

If desired, ABT suspension springs are used for lowering or the in-house ABT threaded sports suspension. This allows the lateral dynamic capability of the R to be further optimized. The setup is rounded off with the ABT Sportstabilisatoren set, which reduces the rotation around the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. And optically you missed the Wolfsburg an upgrade. Stylish alloy wheels in the dimensions 18, 19 and 20 inches are available and of course there are in-house Alus of the well-known ABT designs ER-F, FR, DR and GR. On the black presentation vehicle is installed a variant with diamond-twisted elements in glossy black and the format 20 inches.

And finally, the added power of the 4 cylinder is also clearly audible. ABT has launched a sport exhaust system for the Golf VII R with its Otto Part Filter, which provides a powerful soundscape with four dark chrome-plated tailpipes each 102 mm in diameter.
