A few hours ago we talked about the elegant BMW E36 M3 Coupe from Performance Technic berichtet and now it goes back a few years with a project from the tuner “Boden Autohaus”. The guys have a 28 Series E5 (built from 1981 to 1988) posted on their website, which we can not withhold from you. The E28 was the official successor of the E12 and thus the second generation of today's successful 5er series.
With it came innovations such as the center console inclined towards the driver, ABS and for the first time in the company's history there was even a diesel engine in the range with the turbocharged swirl chamber motor (internal designation M21) in the 524td (85 kW & 115 PS). Thanks to these innovations, the E28 series was one of the most successful in BMW history and has had a lasting impact on the company's future. And it goes without saying that you should of course be particularly careful with modifications to such a vehicle. Certainly you can imagine some changes to the E28 5er, but an air suspension?
But that's exactly what it has Ground car dealership made and the result is absolutely convincing. A complete AccuAir air suspension system was installed which, at the push of a button, ensures that the 5 Series moves down to the last millimeter in the direction of the road. The great advantage of the air suspension is that it can raise the 5 Series to a normal level in a matter of seconds and thus enable driving on poor roads or loose surfaces, as well as safely passing underground garages, etc. And by pressing the button again, the five is extremely low on the road again.
The next big change is in the wheel well, here was a classic wheelset from the house AC Schnitzer, And more exactly it is the type AC Schnitzer Racing Type I which were then produced by OZ. Although we do not know the exact dimensions, we assume that there are 9 x 17 ET6 in the front and 11 x 17 ET6 in the rear with 4 inch outer beds. We have already been able to marvel at precisely these dimensions on an E28. If only the facts about this conversion had been presented to us and no pictures whatsoever, we would probably have one pretty unanimous in our heads negative Opinion about such a project.
The pictures and the implementation convince us but completely the opposite and we find this E28 5er mega successful yet contemporary and with the necessary understatement. There is much more due to the currently very little information available to us unfortunately not to say so that we leave it in the pictures.
