The facelift of the popular BMW i8 is in the starting blocks and should continue the successful series of the i8 with many technical innovations. And there will be an i8 Roadster, consistently designed as a two-seater, with a retractable fabric roof. Visually, however, you hold back a lot, but there are clear changes in terms of technology. For example, there is the iDrive ID6 infotainment system.
A main menu with live tiles, Apple CarPlay integration and the latest BMW ConnectedDrive Services are now entering the hybrid coupe. Roadster and Coupé get a lettering on the C-pillar and come with E-Copper and Donington Gray metallic two new exterior colors into play. New lighter alloy wheels, modified front and rear headlights and a few details on the bumpers complete the visual changes. Much more important, however, is the improved battery which, with new technology, increases the battery capacity by more than 50 percent, from 7,1 to 11,6 kWh.
It comes with 34Ah cells, which provide good 20 percent more range compared to the 50Ah cells used so far. If the batteries are completely full, a range of up to 55 kilometers is possible. The maximum speed is a maximum of 105 km / h and in eDrive mode even 120 km / h. The electric motor on the front axle receives, due to the new battery, a small performance boost on 105 kW / 143 PS which has the consequence that also subtly revised 1,5 liter B38 three-cylinder now 374 PS makes.
In the acceleration values, however, this is not reflected because as the 362 PS variant also accelerates the facelift in 4,4 seconds to 100 km / h. That you can make with a few subtle changes but also the pre-facelift fit for the next few years showed us the website of ADV.1 Wheels, A Sophisto Gray metallic painted i8 with the classic Frozen iElectric Blue accents was on display and of course there was a new wheel set from ADV.1.
Decisions have been made for the ADV510 Track Spec rim from the Advanced Series, which is front mounted in 22 × 9 inches and rear in 22 × 10,5 inches. The wheel set convinces with its dark gray painted rim star and the polished blue rim beds which are color-coordinated with the standard blue accents. Incidentally, the wheel bolts are the ones around Tikore titanium lug nuts which round off the high-quality appearance. And of course, a subtle lowering may not be missing here, but we do not know any information about this. But if we get more details, there is of course an update for this story.
