For the company's 120th anniversary, Alfa Romeo has already announced that it will present a very special highlight. Contrary to many rumors on the net, it is not the coupé version of the Giulia, nor is it the compact SUV, presumably called “Tonale”, which will probably be launched in 2021. Now there will even be two highlights that Alfa Romeo will present in Milan in May. The new models are the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm. Alfa Romeo is setting new standards in terms of performance in the middle class, and shows that the Giulia QV with 510 hp was not the end of the flagpole.

In terms of design, the Giulia GTA differs from the Giulia QV by wider wheel arches and larger air intakes, which are even sportier than the Giulia QV. In addition, the four-pipe system with the offset exhaust pipes gave way to a centrally positioned double-pipe exhaust system, which is attached in the Porsche style and is flanked by two large diffusers. Also new are the glossy black painted, forged 20-inch rims, which were kept in the classic Alfa design. The rear spoiler is already known from the slightly weaker Giulia QV, and the roof could be made of lightweight carbon to reduce weight. The black grill and the large black air intakes, which have to do without fog lights, immediately signal to the person in front that a very special Alfa Romeo wants to start there. In contrast to the GTA, the Giulia GTAm comes with a reduced weight because it completely dispenses with a rear seat, even though it was designed as a four-door. In addition, the GTAm version has a large rear spoiler in the JDM style ex works. The weight reduction of the GTAm version should be 100 kg compared to the GTA version.

The legendary name GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) returns with the 2,9-liter V6 biturbo, which is already doing its job in the Giulia QV, and has been upgraded to 540 hp in the two new GTA and GTAm versions. The maximum torque should be around 620 Newton meters, but exact figures have not yet been published. No information is yet available on top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h. However, it is expected that the new GTA and GTAm models will perform even better than the already lightning-fast Giulia QV. Thus, AMG, RS and M models are likely to lag behind the beautiful Italian. In terms of electrification, a key issue in today's automotive industry, nothing has happened yet with the two new Alfa models, as no hybrid or plug-in hybrid model will be available.
Which target group is addressed?
With the two new limited power models, Alfa Romeo wants above all automobile lovers who appreciate Italian automotive art and want to stand out from the crowd. Alfa Romeo had a magical attraction for many car fans, and these old virtues, which you could already revive with the new Giulia, are to be strengthened with these new models. Nothing is known about the prices and launch date, but the acquisition costs should be well above the € 79.000 that a Giulia QV has to spend at least. Thus, the limitation is justified and these models will certainly develop into coveted collector's items.
