With the model revision in August 2021, the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models will benefit from a number of product updates: With more power and torque, improved handling properties and a significantly more dynamic presence, the high-performance diesel models underpin their leading position in the segment. The model range of the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 series is aimed particularly at sporty frequent drivers who are looking for a combination of driving dynamics and comfort in connection with long ranges. The two X models offer a unique driving experience characterized by exciting driving dynamics, torque and the reliability and efficiency typical of diesel engines.

Facelift Alpina XD3 / XD4 (2021)

The performance of the 3,0 liter in-line six-cylinder diesel engine with quad-turbo charging has been increased again as part of the model revision. By optimizing the engine control parameters, the engine now provides 290 kW (394 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. This can be called up from 1.750 rpm and is available in the entire speed range up to 3.000 rpm. This means that the drive offers high pulling power even in everyday driving situations at low speeds.

With the revised Launch Control function, which enables acceleration maneuvers with optimum traction and maximum dynamism from a standing start, the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models reach the 100 km / h mark in just 4,6 seconds. The maximum speed is 267 km / h (BMW ALPINA XD3) or 268 km / h (BMW ALPINA XD4). Unique performance in this segment! The high engine power is implemented by a ZF 8-speed sports automatic transmission of the 8HP75 generation, which has been specially tailored to the high-torque drive. The classic ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC shift buttons or optionally ALPINA aluminum shift paddles are available for manual gear changes.

SUPERIOR PULLING POWER - UNPARALLELED EFFICIENCY 3,0 LITER IN-LINE SIX-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE WITH QUADTURBO CHARGING

The high degree of efficiency of the diesel unit makes it possible to achieve low practical consumption and thus high ranges for this performance class. The consumption value determined according to the new, more realistic WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure) measurement method is 8,5 l / 100 km, corresponding to 223 g / km CO2. An SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue® injection is used to reduce the nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas - in addition to the diesel particulate filter and a NOx storage catalytic converter. The AdBlue® tank holds approx. 20 liters, which corresponds to a range of at least 10.000 km.

PRECISION AND COMFORT THE ALPINA SPORT SUSPENSION

In keeping with the powerful drive, the ALPINA sports suspension of the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models is characterized by high longitudinal and lateral dynamics - without sacrificing the driving comfort that is typical of ALPINA. The adaptive dampers with ALPINA-specific tuning enable a pronounced spread between the different driving modes - from COMFORT + to SPORT +. Short, tight springs ensure a lower center of gravity and optimized aerodynamics. As part of the model revision, the steering was fine-tuned: the steering reacts more sensitively, more precisely and offers the right steering response for every driving situation - from everyday to sporty. For the wheel / tire combination, the ALPINA chassis engineers continue to rely on the tried and tested ALPINA CLASSIC 20 “light alloy wheels with lockable wheel covers and internal valves.

These are equipped with a custom-made version of the ultra-high-performance Pirelli P Zero tire, which the engineers at Pirelli and ALPINA have coordinated in every detail with the vehicle concept of the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models in extensive development and testing work. The tire dimensions: 255/45 ZR20 front and 285/40 ZR20 rear (EU tire label: C / A / B, 71 dB front, C / A / A, 71 dB rear). The optional ALPINA CLASSIC 22 “forged wheels are also available with self-developed mixed tires in the dimensions 255/35 ZR22 front and 295/30 ZR22 rear (EU tire label: D / B / B, 71 dB front, D / B / A, 72 dB rear).

The ALPINA brake system, which has been equipped with high-performance brake pads from the model revision, ensures optimal deceleration. The optional high-performance brake system with perforated lightweight composite brake discs in the dimensions Ø 395 mm at the front, Ø 398 mm at the rear, is characterized by an even sportier pedal feedback and excellent fading stability.

TRACTION AND BENDING DYNAMICS ALL-WHEEL DRIVE AND DIFFERENTIAL LOCK

The intelligent all-wheel control is based on the BMW xDrive system. Depending on the driving situation, the ALPINA-specific set-up is reflected in the pronounced rear-heavy torque distribution in conjunction with high traction for sporty, agile handling. In addition to the standard rear axle limited-slip differential, the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models are now equipped with Performance Control. The electronic control system prevents understeering with targeted, wheel-specific brake interventions. As a result, the vehicle reacts much more agile and the directional stability is increased: When cornering, the full dynamic potential of the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models is available.

POWERFUL, MODERN PRESENCE DESIGN & EQUIPMENT

The BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models convey a powerful presence even when the vehicle is standing. The new light and kidney design and the revised ALPINA aerodynamic components on the front and rear, which take up the shape and lines of the body, give the models a significantly more modern, sporty design language. The new rear diffuser, in the profile of which the optional trailer hitch can also be integrated, underlines the athletic character of the two X models.

The extensive standard equipment list will be expanded to include the BMW Parking Assistant as well as the interior and exterior mirror package for the model revision. The newly designed, high-gloss BMW center console offers intuitive control options. In addition to power and torque, the new BMW sports displays now also show boost pressure, oil temperature and G-forces in the dynamic diagram.

The in-house ALPINA upholstery shop offers the option of designing the interior of the BMW ALPINA XD3 and XD4 models according to individual specifications: piping, seams, applications, punchings and embossing, also made to order, give every BMW ALPINA automobile an individual character. The natural LAVALINA leather, which is lovingly handcrafted in the ALPINA saddlery, expands the range of BMW equipment to include the highest quality natural material used in the automotive sector.

NEW EXHAUST GAS TESTING PROCEDURE (WLTP)

The specified official fuel consumption and CO2 emission values ​​were determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring method VO (EU) 715/2007 in the currently valid version. Since September 1, 2018, the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure) has replaced the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). Currently, the NEDC values ​​are still mandatory, regardless of the measurement method used, which is why the official manufacturer information given here has already been determined on the basis of the new WLTP test cycle and calculated back to the NEDC for comparability. For these vehicles, other values ​​than those given here may apply to the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions. The additional specification of the WLTP values ​​is voluntary until their use is mandatory.
