From Renault's performance daughter Alpine there is news to report on the A110! Presented in 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show - there is now a new variant - at least almost! But there were no facts to suggest this specimen. It is true that there have always been reports that an A110 with some performance mods was tested on the Nürburgring and also on some surrounding streets with the Single copy the sightings certainly have nothing to do with the current FAI. Curtain up for the Alpine A110 SportsX 2020!

And the Alpine A110 SportsX 2020 looks damn good - at least that's what we think. There is probably a long development phase in this vehicle. We think that the Alpine design and development team was also under enormous pressure. Because now it is clear: the Alpine A110 SportsX 2020 should be presented at the International Automobile Festival (FAI) on January 28.01.2020th, 110 in Paris. The creations and the changes to the existing design were certainly not easy for the Alpine design and development team. It can be seen that there is a lot of the A110 rally car in it. The Alpine design and development team took most of the inspiration for the A110 SportsX from the rally car. Because there should be some kind of connection to the original model. For Alpine it has therefore been a matter of course that the A1973 SportsX is strongly based on the legendary rally car that triumphed in the 110 Monte Carlo Rally. The team also got ideas for the A110 SportsX from the AXNUMX Pure, which is the back-to-basics version of the mid-engine coupé and provides the basis.

somehow SUV and somehow not

The Alpine A110 SportsX 2020 combines pretty much everything fans love about the French Porsche Cayman rival, including the features that you would expect from an ordinary SUV (apart from the all-wheel drive). The features of the A110 SportsX 2020 are better - that's why this car is no ordinary SUV. But that does not mean that the A110 SportsX 2020 cannot be intended for everyday use. Because one of the cool features is a ski rack on the roof. What ultimately makes the A110 SportsX a sports car and not an ordinary SUV are the special features that distinguish the A110 SportsX from the ordinary SUV. This includes, above all, the modification of the chassis. This now has a whopping 60 mm more ground clearance than the normal A110. The A110 SportsX has not lost any of its delicacy either. This is particularly due to the widening of the wheel arches by "subtle" 80 mm, which stand out very clearly. While the design was boasted, the weight of the new A110 SportX was saved. The Pure base weighs only 1103 kilograms and therefore the SUV variant is unlikely to be significantly heavier.

Technical equipment - as usual

Alpine has not made any mechanical changes to the SportsX compared to the A110. This means that it too has only rear-wheel drive. The lightweight sports car also has the seven-speed dual clutch transmission from Getrag and the well-known 1,8-liter turbo gasoline engine with 252 hp and a torque of 320 Nm. The A4,5 SportsX can therefore accelerate to 110 km / h in approx. 100 seconds. And the A110 SportsX is not the only Alpine model that draws attention at the International Automobile Festival (FAI) in Paris. Also included is a 1971 A110 1300, which was completely restored between 1995 and 2004, a 1966 A210 prototype and the Vision Gran Turismo from 2015. (all cars: Prototype A210, Alpine Vision Gran Turismo, A110 1800 - 1972 Gp4, A110 SportsX, A110 "berlinette" 1300 from 1971, A110S) If we receive timely information about further changes compared to the normal A110, there is of course an update for this report.
