Seven liter V12 and 528 hp: Mercedes-AMG MKB 70TE!

The Team of MKB engine construction based in Winnenden, we know one with blatant modifications 800 hp Mercedes S63 AMG, One 670 hp GL 63 or a potent one 700 hp CLS 63 AMG. The tuner has been active in the industry for decades and has now presented a restored tuning classic from back then just in time for the company's 25th anniversary. And that Mercedes-AMG MKB 70TE (S 124, AMG, Estate, W 124) with powerful Seven liter V12 and 528 PS! Even today, this performance in combination with the 730 Nm torque is still extremely impressive. But what it meant in 1995, everyone can imagine for themselves. The S124 T-model was probably the ultimate back then Sleeperbecause you just couldn't see his performance. Because optically after the conversion there was hardly any difference to the staid 500 E and even from the 300 TE base vehicle used in 1993, the MKB 70TE only stood out very discreetly.

Mercedes-AMG MKB 70th!

But let's stay with the 500 for a moment. Back then it was a real exceptional vehicle. Mercedes cooperated with Porsche for the construction and brought the power station wagon with a new front end, with the suspension of the SL, a wider body and a five-liter V8 with factory-made 326 hp on the market. But that wasn't enough for MKB either. The idea for the MKB 70TE was born. The tuner completely rebuilt the 300 TE and gave it something completely different instead of the in-line six-cylinder. Namely a crazy seven-liter V12 vacuum cleaner! And that is the one M120 V12 from the SL 600. An engine that is still significantly modified today from Pagani is used and actually did not fit into the engine compartment of the 300 TE at all. With a lot of effort such as new inner fenders, adapted rear bulkhead, suspension of the SL 60 AMG and the battery moved into the trunk, it worked. And the modern V12 electronics could only be coupled with the on-board electronics of the S 124 with difficulty. But that also succeeded in the end.

bye, bye E 60 AMG "top model"

The 12-liter V6 delivers 408 hp and 530 Nm of torque ex works. MKB installed one Special crankshaft, there were new ones Piston and pleuel and modified cylinder heads are also installed. The compression was also increased from 10: 1 to 11: 1 and the Expanded displacement one to 6944 cubic centimeters. In combination with chip tuning, the engine produced 528 hp and 730 Nm of torque, which are delivered to the rear wheels by means of a reinforced four-speed automatic. This even made fun of the top model E 60 AMG with 381 PS & 580 NM. And it accelerates to country road speed in 5,4 seconds and ran almost 300 kilometers per hour without electronic limitation. Incidentally, MKB makes the engine stable by means of two large ones electric fan and an additional Oil Cooler. On the other hand, MKB opted for (elegant) restraint and installed the E 500 facelift Mopf II with OEM fenders and front apron and at the rear there were drawn wheel arches, clear glass taillights, an AMG roof spoiler and AMG styling 2 rims in 8 & 9 × 18 inches.

Comand infotainment from the W 210

And it was just as subtle in the cabin. There were new leather seats in the front from the 500 and even the command infotainment from a W 210 as well as an urgently needed speedometer up to 300 km / h, but this should only really be noticed by Mercedes connoisseurs. In the end, one more thing took care of it individual acceptance for a street legal and with 240.000 DM In addition to the performance, the price was a real shock. But a 7-liter V12 should be able to compensate for this shock. If we get more information about the changes made at that time, there is of course an update for this report.
