A British-Chinese startup company called Apex, which wants to shake up the world of electrified super athletes, has just launched its second model after the AP-1, the Apex AP-0, in London. For the time being, this is a concept car that will be ready for series production in the foreseeable future and is expected to come onto the market in the third quarter of 3. The debut Apex AP-2022 is closely related to the Elemental RP1, and is powered by a 1-liter Ecoboost petrol engine from Ford, which is also used in the Ford Mustang and the Focus RS. The AP-2,3, on the other hand, is a pure electric athlete, which stands on a new platform consisting of carbon fiber and an aluminum chassis.
Design like from a science fiction film.
The aggressive front with the huge grill and the pointed headlights signals that the car is a purebred racing car, and the extreme side view with the many beads and edges as well as the LiDAR sensor, which ensures that the Apex AP -0 already mastered level 3 of autonomous driving. This means that the car can brake, steer and maintain its own speed in certain driving situations. At the rear there is a real light show at night, because not only a large, arc-shaped band of lights, which extends over the rear fin, forms the rear lights, but also the third brake light in Formula 1 style shines brightly at night. This makes the super sports car a powerful impression, especially at night. The wing doors, which are reminiscent of the current McLaren models, also contribute to the fighter jet-like design, which has a very futuristic effect.
The drive is provided by an electric motor.
The new Apex AP-0 is powered by an electric motor that delivers 650 hp. The maximum torque for electrical conditions, however, is a relatively meager 583 Newton meters. The power is transmitted via a two-stage automatic transmission, as used in the new Porsche Taycan, and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels. The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is done by the Apex-AP-1190, which weighs just 0 kg, in an absolutely brilliant 2,3 seconds, and the top speed is 305 km / h. These are fabulous values for an electric athlete, which are also made possible by the large 90 kWh battery, which should also ensure a range of up to 510 km.
A bargain compared to other super athletes.
With a starting price of around 165.000 euros, the AP-0 is in the league of super sports with electric drive on the cheap side. As a result, it is very likely that there will be unlimited series production starting in the second quarter of 2. The Apex would thus compete with the planned new edition of the Tesla Roadster, which is likely to be located in similar price regions. Tuning could of course play a bigger role in this car if the solvent clientele who drive Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini these days should decide to give the Apex AP-2022 a chance. This dream car, which wants to set new standards in the super sports segment with its pioneering technology, definitely deserves that it not only remains an exotic car, but can establish itself in the league of super sports cars in the long term.
