Apollo Intensa Emozione "Carbon Dragon" - Apollo IE!

[Update: 20.09.2023] This post was updatedto take more recent information into account. The hypercar world is being shaken up by more and more extremely extremely designed automobiles. Start-up companies that come up with electric super athletes are currently springing up like mushrooms. But the good old combustion engine hasn't completely had its day either, because petrol-powered, strictly limited hypercars, which can be purchased for astronomical sums, are far from being obsolete. Although companies like Lotus and Rimac want us to believe that electric drives are the future in the automotive Champions League, at least in 2021 you can still play in this class with a conventional combustion engine. And that guarantees many laps longer than with a Stromer!

Hypercar with Italian flair

It is the different philosophies of the manufacturers that shape the diversity in the hypercar segment, and we hope that this diversity will remain with us for a few years to come. Today we present you the Apollo Intensa Emozione aka Apollo IE that makes pretty much every other hypercar that is currently for sale look like a tame sports coupé for the faint-hearted.

As is well known, the Apollo IE was developed by Roland Gumpert, a German engineer who fulfilled his dream of his own super sports car and is now head of Gumpert Aiways GmbH, which develops electric SUVs in Germany and has them manufactured inexpensively in China. Years before the Aiways project, of course, the Gumpert Apollo came onto the market, the legitimate predecessor of the Apollo IE, which had Audi technology and was produced in Altenburg, Thuringia. But now we come to the design of the carbon kite, which is probably one of the most spectacular designs in automotive history. Because with his massive Wing work all around, as well as the one made entirely of carbon fibers Outer skin, for example, he makes a Bugatti look as good as if it were a VW Beetle.

Only 10 copies of the monster are produced, and of course they have all long been sold out, even though the price is around 2,5 million euros. There is practically no wish that is too unusual other than that it cannot be fulfilled when it comes to putting together your very own personal Apollo IE. This “Carbon Dragon” is the vehicle with the Serial number 5 and was commissioned by its owner in exactly the same way.

A 6,3-liter V12 vacuum cleaner based on Ferrari drives the hypercar.

As you would expect from such a beast, he comes with you quite befittingly V12 suction gasoline enginewhich also produces an infernal sound that is music to the ears of all sports car fans. The performance is not bad either, but it cannot compete with the e-hypercars from Rimac or Lotus. 769 hp and just 760 Newton meters of torque are more in the sports car sector than in the hypercar sector. The sound makes up for that, because it makes pretty much every sports car green with envy. Unfortunately, we currently have no information on the performance and the power-to-weight ratio. Both should be completely sufficient for the big show.

Our conclusion on the Apollo IE "Carbon Dragon":

If you've ever wondered what a wheeled stealth bomber looks like, this is the answer. The sports car world has probably not yet seen a more powerful wing, and it no longer matters that the performance is not in the hypercar league. If you like the car, you will find a picture gallery of the vehicle at the end of the article. If we get more information, there will of course be an update for this report.
