Barn find! Ascari FGT prototype from 1992 will be auctioned!

One reads again and again about spectacular barn finds where automobiles come to light that were believed to have long since blessed the times. In Germany there was once such an extraordinary find as a Prototype of a Porsche 901 from 1963 was discovered in a barn. The vehicle, which was a test vehicle of the first generation of the Porsche 911, still had the name 901, but the production version was not allowed to be called that because Peugeot had all numbers protected with a "0" in the middle. Thus, the 901 became today's icon of German sports car construction, the 911. The barn find is now on display in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart after it was extensively restored.

British super sports car prototype!

Another unbelievable barn find is this prototype of the Ascari FGT, a British super sports car from the 1990s, which was designed by Lee Noble, and which we are going to present to you in more detail today. It looks elegant and fresh restauriert it became, too, the prototype of the Ascari FGT found in a machine shop on a British farm.

It is now planned that the vehicle will be auctioned next month, more precisely on November 6, 2021, in order to get into the hands of collectors and not to gather dust in a hall for more than a decade. The vehicle was built in 1992, registered for the first time a year later, and stood undiscovered in the aforementioned machine shop for over 13 years. In the Catering helped Lee Noble, the CEO of Noble Automotive Ltd. personally in order to achieve the most perfect result possible. The vehicle was only named Ascari FGT in 1995, when the Dutch racing driver Klaas Zwart acquired the rights to the sports car brand Ascari bought, and revived them.

Zwart also invested a large amount of money to take part in the 1996 British GT Championship, a racing series for GT vehicles, with the FGT prototype. This vehicle was the inspiration for the production version of the Ascari Ecosse and served as a promotional vehicle and catalog model in various brochures and advertisements.

Puristic interior in the design of the 1990s.

In contrast to the extroverted exterior of the Ascari FGT, the cockpit is very spartan and reserved. There is though Leather sports seats, however, the interior gives a racing car-like impression, which is primarily due to the watch collection and the Three-spoke sports steering wheel lies. There are comfort features such as electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and power windows to offer potential customers a minimum of comfort.

6-liter Chevrolet V8 is placed in the middle of the Ascari FGT!

Lee Noble constructed the vehicle around the mid-engine chassis, and this is how radical the Ascari FGT looks from the outside. Of the Six liter engine, which is already tight without turbocharging 420 PS in our opinion fits perfectly with the super sports car of the 90s. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the performance, but the power is transmitted via a Five-speed manual auf die Rear wheels. Equipped without ESP and other driving aids, it is a super sports car from full shot and grain, which certainly offers a lot of driving fun.

Our Conclusion about the Ascari FGT from 1992:

A dream car from the 90s, which in our opinion should definitely end up in loving collectors' hands at the auction, which incidentally is carried out by RM Sothebys.
