In July of last year, Audi launched the fourth generation of A8 (Type D5 / 4N - internal type designation 4N - since 2017) presented to the public and since autumn 2017, the flagship can be ordered from Ingolstadt. From the start of the new series there was next to the 449 PS 60 (3.0) TFSI e-tron and the 55 (3.0) TFSI with 340 PS also equal to the 286 PS strong 50 (3.0) TDI with EA897evo (Engine code DDVC). And this is exactly what the DTE team has now taken to heart. The "50 TDI" is the counterpart to the W222 Mercedes S350d and the G30 BMW 740d and leaves both behind after the increase in performance. The DTE performance upgrade provides 669 Nm maximum torque and an impressive 322 hp and pushes the A8-TDI 50, at least on paper, past the competition from Munich and Stuttgart.

The chip tuning provides more power and pulling power and this is noticeable over the entire rev range. The PowerControl X additional control unit is connected to the central sensors of the engine management and is then permanently in the engine compartment. The signals of boost pressure, camshaft and rail pressure are recorded, optimized and dynamically fed into the main control unit. The system works with multi-map technology and can also be installed without restriction on vehicles with diesel particulate filters.

The PowerControl X additional box from DTE can be controlled from the cockpit via smartphone and the free APP can even provide live information about the current engine performance if required. The performance increase is perfectly rounded off by means of DTE accelerator pedal tuning (pedal box) which is connected to the electronic accelerator pedal with two connectors.
