Audi produces the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron for the European and US markets, it is climate-neutral in terms of balance sheet. All emissions that cannot be avoided are offset by climate protection measures with carbon credits and are also certified by the non-profit organization The Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard. The Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron become their customers CO₂- passed neutrally. When the car has reached the end of its service life, its battery should continue to be used in second-life concepts or - if that is no longer economically feasible - be used sustainably as a raw material source through recycling. The first pilot and research projects in this area have already been successfully completed.

Use phase shown in green: charging with green electricity

In addition to the CO₂-neutral production will also include the use phase of Audi in the future e-tron Greening your fleet in Europe. Customers of the Q4 e-tron Charge green electricity today - for example from Elli, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group that provides certified Volkswagen green electricity. This rating has been a mandatory selection criterion for the award of contracts since 2019. The Volkswagen Group has also been using the sustainability rating worldwide since 2019.

27 components with recycled content: sustainable materials in the electric SUV

Sustainability and resource conservation also play an important role in the overall vehicle. The electric SUVs contain 27 components with recycled content. The exterior consists of components such as the assembly support - a component that has to meet particularly high requirements in terms of mechanical properties. In addition, the headlight mounts, the wheel arch liners, the fender covers, the floor cladding and the wheel spoilers are largely made from secondary raw materials.

Recycled materials are used in insulation and damping materials in the interior. In addition, many visible surfaces contain recycled materials. This includes, for example, the floor covering and parts of the luggage compartment lining. In the S line interior, the customer receives the microfiber material Dinamica, which, in conjunction with synthetic leather, serves as a cover for the sports seats. Dinamica consists of 45 percent polyester fibers. They are obtained from recycled PET bottles, former textiles or fiber remnants.

Pulse, also combined with synthetic leather, contains around 50 percent recycled material. Around 26 PET bottles of 1,5 liters each are processed into yarn in a complex process for a sofa set - the end result is a material that achieves the same quality standards in terms of looks and feel as a classic textile cover. The technical fabric inlay for the instrument panel, which will follow shortly after the market launch, is also partly made of recycled material.
