Premiere: Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron!

The infotainment offer in the Audi Q4 e-tron and in the Q4 Sportback e-tron is available in three levels: MMI, MMI plus and MMI pro. At each level, the powerful MIB 3, the control center for media, telephony and navigation, serves as the technical backbone. The standard MMI basis system already includes a DAB + tuner and the 10,1-inch MMI touch display. The free myAudi app connects the car with the customer's smartphone.

Top networking: MMI plus and MMI pro

With the MMI plus expansion stage, the Audi virtual cockpit, the 11,6-inch display (expected towards the end of 2021), a WiFi hotspot for the passengers' end devices and the basic services of Audi connect navigation & infotainment come on board the compact electric SUVs. Among other things, they include online traffic information. The navigation system suggests destinations to the driver and displays information on the traffic flow that is accurate to the lane. The calculation is carried out on the servers of the service provider HERE using predictive data about the entire traffic situation.

Another tailor-made service from Audi connect is e-tron Route planner - it calculates the fastest route with the shortest possible charging stops on powerful DC columns. He assumes the total travel time, i.e. the travel time and the charging time, taking into account forecasts about the development of the traffic situation. The list of charging points is updated daily.

The top equipment MMI pro brings the Audi virtual cockpit plus, the Audi smartphone interface with wireless connection and the augmented reality head-up display into the car. In addition, there are the “plus” services from Audi connect Navigation & Infotainment, including navigation with Google Earth, online voice input, online radio and hybrid radio.

New hi-fi partner: SONOS supplies the sound system

Hardware components that are available individually make up the infotainment of the Q4 e-tron more interesting. The US hi-fi brand SONOS, a trendsetter in the high-quality home audio sector, is the new and exclusive partner of Audi, delivering the premium sound system. It is integrated into the Audi soundCube, a fully integrated software environment. It forms an audio system architecture that can be easily adapted to all requirements and can effortlessly integrate sound systems from different suppliers. The Audi soundCube implements a uniform operating and sound philosophy across the entire model range - thanks to its flexibility, it leaves room for customer wishes.

In Q4 e-tron and in Q4 e-tron Sportback uses the Sonamic Panorama algorithm developed by the Fraunhofer Institute to distribute the signals to ten loudspeakers. It generates a three-dimensional surround sound from stereo recordings, placing the individual sound sources on a virtual U-shaped sound stage. The listener gets the impression of sitting in the middle of the orchestra or the band. The four tweeters and the center speaker are controlled by an amplifier that is integrated in the MIB 3. A separate eight-channel booster is responsible for the four woofers and the subwoofer in the luggage compartment. Both amplifiers together offer 580 watts of power.

Another attractive hardware component is the Audi phone box. It charges cell phones inductively and enables data transmission via the car antenna at LTE advanced speed.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
