After the Audi RS6 Avant (C8) is before the RS7 Sportback! The big surprise was not that, Audi had already informed with presentation of the RS6 about the world premiere of the RS7 Sportback to the IAA 2019. But that the RS7 Sportback is so clearly removed from the base as the RS6 we would not have expected. At the front there is the large single-frame radiator grille in glossy black with honeycomb structure and on both sides in the apron large air openings. And unlike its predecessor, the RS7 now has widened fenders all around. Specifically, it is on each side to 20 mm outward and there were RS-typical side skirts. And the rear is visually oriented on the technically identical RS6 Avant. Again, there is the typical RS sports exhaust system with black, oval tailpipes right and left and the slightly used to getting shaped diffuser.

600 PS & 800 Nm of torque

And typical of the RS7, a spoiler extends out of the tailgate from 120 km / h. And as already mentioned, the technology is almost identical to that of the brand new RS6 Avant. The RS7 Sportback also has the 48-volt electrical system that cooperates with the new mild hybrid V8. The built-in belt starter generator (RSG) produces a maximum of 12 kW in coasting mode, which is recuperated in a separate high-voltage battery. The on-board electronics and the drive-select setting alone decide whether the RS7 Sportback recuperates between 55 and 160 km / h or “coasts” with the engine switched off. If you drive with a low load, the V8 only runs with four cylinders thanks to cylinder deactivation and saves some fuel. The engine also provides 600 PS & 800 Newton meters of torque and is equipped with the new axle stage Tiptronic ex works. In the RS7, however, the switching times were revised and there was a launch control function.

And of course, the Sportback has Quattro all-wheel and the chassis is optionally available with the RS Adaptive Air Suspension Smart Air suspension or ex works a steel spring suspension (RS sports suspension plus) brings the three-way adjustable Dynamic Ride damper. As a result, everything has a sprint from a standstill to 100 km / h in just 3,6 seconds and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. If one chooses one of the two optional dynamics packages, it even goes up to 280 or 305 km / h. Inside, the RS7 cockpit features a flattened RS leather sports steering wheel with paddles and multifunction buttons, RS-specific displays and RS sports seats in nappa leather / Alcantara with diamond quilting. Optionally, there are air-conditioned sports seats with Valcona leather that suits the sporty ambience. If we receive timely information on further details of the RS7 there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if yours is just ours Feed subscribe to.
