Matt black prototype: Audi RS 8 sedan based on D4 (4H)

The Facebook page of the “Audi Forum Neckarsulm” has published a spectacular prototype for the special exhibition “25 Years of RS” for a few days. An RS copy based on the fourth generation of the Audi S8 model year 2013. There is actually an Audi "RS 8" innovation vehicle that unfortunately never went into production - very similar to the BMW M7. The matte black / matte gray prototype has various security features on board and at that time provided the basis for the technology of the future. Allegedly, the RS 8 has "only" 520 HP, which would mean that it would not be stronger than the S8 base at the time with a 4,0 l V8 engine on which the RS sports sedan is based. The fact that it is a full-fledged RS model lets us assume that this copy is even stronger than the later S8 plus which, as is well known, delivered 605 PS & 750 NM. By the way, the look is typically RS.

There were large air inlets at the front, an unusually significant lowering and BiColor 21 inch forged wheels that hide a ceramic brake with orange brake calipers. On the other hand, the two-part look of the RS radiator grille is rather unusual. This is open in the upper part. Just a prototype ... And some things are different inside too. For example, there is the apparently fully digital cockpit and the numerous carbon details. In addition, a central, somehow ugly, start button in orange and a flattened leather / Alcantara steering wheel. And the center console looks a bit empty. Where are the buttons for the handbrake or hill start assist? And the MMI infotainment system also seems to be without function because the control unit is missing. But not unusual for a prototype. The Bang & Olufsen sound system, on the other hand, does.

Of course that had not happened yet!
