Ultra-chic and ultra-deep - Audi S8 on Project X rims!

With the third generation of the Audi S8, a real steam hammer was presented at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt am Main. No longer equipped with the V10 engine from the 450 hp predecessor (D3), but now powered by a 4,0 liter twin-turbo V8 with cylinder deactivation, the luxury liner has a powerful 520 hp available. Enough steam to accelerate the two-ton truck to 4,5 km / h in less than 100 seconds and scare the competition in the form of the Mercedes S 63 AMG, Porsche Panamera Turbo, Alpina B7 S & Co. And there was even more steam from November 2015 when Audi launched the S8 Plus. What countless S8 owners had already implemented on their own with various chip tuning methods and a few other changes, Audi finally did with an adapted engine control.

In combination with modified exhaust valves and the new internal geometry of the exhaust gas turbocharger, the output has been increased to a whopping 605 hp and 700 Nm torque. The engine even generated 750 Nm for a short time using overboost. It went to 3,8 km / h in just 100 seconds and it was only officially over at 305 kilometers per hour. And just such a copy, without the additional "plus" in the name, has now been equipped by JMS Fahrzeugteile GmbH with a set of new aluminum rims. With a wheel set from the manufacturer Barracuda Racing Wheels. Specifically, it is the Project X from the Ultralight Series that was installed. Thanks to its unique design, it fits perfectly with the flagship from Ingolstadt and helps the S8 to stand out from the crowd. The new rim was designed in stately dimensions and with a particularly high load capacity, especially for large and heavy SUVs and luxury sedans, and leaves a powerful impression on the Audi S8 of the 4H series.

The Project X rims with a matt black brushed finish have an extraordinary X-spoke design with brushed fronts and are built all around in 10 × 22 inches. The Alus are manufactured using the flow forming process and are therefore comparatively light, weighing only 16 kilograms. Incidentally, the wheel set is equipped with slippers in the format 265 / 30R22 and clearly there was also a lowering. Namely by changing the factory air suspension. In this way, a successful lowering of the body was achieved without having to install a new chassis. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
