Automobili Lamborghini announces the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae: a homage to the legendary V12 super sports car and combustion engine in a final model that brings the top features of all previous Aventador editions to the crowning climax. The Aventador LP 780-4 comes up with the performance of the SVJ and takes the sophisticated elegance of the Aventador S to the extreme. Design and dynamics merge into a definitive collector's item as a coupé and roadster version.
Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae
"The Aventador LP 780-4 embodies the final, purest and timeless V12 from Lamborghini", explains Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “It conveys the unmistakable design that is familiar from a 12-cylinder, the technical solutions and the emotionally charged driving experience and is the last Aventador to close an extraordinary era. It is the last of its kind: It stands for maximum power and uncompromising performance, as expected from a modern V12 from Lamborghini, paired with our unique design DNA in a class of its own. The Aventador was destined to become a classic when it was launched. The Aventador LP 780-4 embodies timeless design and technology par excellence in one final issue: Ultimae. "
After more than a year of pandemic-related event cancellations worldwide, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae will make its debut in front of car enthusiasts and owners as a coupé and roadster version at the UK Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021.
Power and performance
The elegant lines of the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae hide the performance of this last model. The 6,5 liter 12-cylinder "Longitudinale Posteriore" (LP) engine delivers 780 hp to the permanent all-wheel drive: 40 hp more than the Aventador S and 10 hp more than the SVJ. The LP 780-4 Ultimae pays tribute to the instinctive character, power and performance of Lamborghini's Aventador models over the past decade. Three things should definitely not be missing: the know-how gained with the SVJ drive train on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, which set the track record in July 2018; the technical achievements and luxury of the S model; the purity of the original Aventador concept. The grand finale of the traditional V12 internal combustion engine and the ultimate Aventador in every respect.
The unique, extremely stiff and light carbon fiber monocoque of the Aventador LP 780-4 and the extensive use of carbon fiber in the entire body contribute to its dry weight of just 1550 kg. The coupé version, which weighs 25 kg less than the Aventador S, has the same power-to-weight ratio as the SVJ of 1,98 kg / hp, accelerates from 2,8 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds and delivers one Top speed of 355 km / h with 720 Nm torque at a maximum of 6750 rpm. In addition, improvements have been made to the variable valve control VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and the variable intake system VIS (Variable Intake System) in order to achieve an optimized torque curve. The CCB brake system decelerates from 1 km / h to a standstill in just 30 m.
The lateral guidance is optimized thanks to the four-wheel steering introduced in the Aventador S, which ensures agility at low and medium speeds and more stability at high speeds. The Lamborghini dynamic steering LDS (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering) on the front axle ensures direct feedback and excellent steering behavior and is perfectly matched to the active rear wheel steering on the rear axle: Separate actuators respond to the driver's steering movements within five milliseconds and allow real-time adjustment to the steering angle, which improves cornering behavior.
The design of the LP 780-4 Ultimae is characterized by a special front bumper that increases the contact pressure in the front area and delivers a longitudinal performance similar to that of the SVJ. The traction control and vehicle dynamics of the ESC are controlled more precisely and faster, whereby differences in grip, even on surfaces with low grip such as snow and ice, are recognized and taken into account in the calibration. The permanent all-wheel drive enables greater torque to be transmitted to the rear axle thanks to rear-wheel steering, so that less torque is transmitted to the front axle when the accelerator is released and a sporty but safe oversteer behavior is guaranteed. The system is controlled via the active vehicle dynamics LDVA (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva), which processes precise real-time information on the body movements via sensors and thus calculates the best coordination of all active systems in order to guarantee optimum driving dynamics in every situation.
For top-class aerodynamic performance, the front splitter and open "mouth" of the LP 780-4 directs an additional airflow to improve aerodynamic efficiency and cool the engine and radiator. The air ducts and the side cooling air inlet of the bumper reduce the disruptive effect generated by the front tires and optimize the wake flow to the rear radiator. The lightweight rear bumper of the Ultimae rounds off the dynamic exterior based on the SVJ's racetrack heritage.
The active rear wing of the aerodynamic system can be adjusted to three different positions depending on the speed and the selected driving mode - closed, "maximum performance" and "maximum handling" - and improves the overall balance of the vehicle. This is done in collaboration with vortex generators in the front and rear underbody area to maximize airflow and support brake cooling. The power is transmitted via the particularly light 7-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) transmission from Lamborghini with automated shifting processes in just 50 milliseconds.
With the driving modes of the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, the driver can not only choose from STRADA, SPORT and CORSA, but also have his own parameters in EGO mode for optimal coordination of the active damper system from Lamborghini (LMS), the traction controls (engine, transmission and All-wheel drive) and the steering.
One last masterpiece - Ultimae
The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae features the complex yet elegant lines and surfaces of the Lamborghini Aventador: the pinnacle of Lamborghini's V12 legacy. As a tribute to the trend-setting performance of the SVJ and the timeless super sports car elegance of the S model, it combines the best of both worlds to create the perfect balance between performance and dynamism as well as immortal sophistication.
New optional extras for the exterior and interior are available for the owners of the numbered editions of the Ultimae - 350 Coupés and 250 Roadsters in total - which marks a noble and elegant, yet dynamic and distinctive end of the Aventador range. Its clear, informal silhouette is in no way inferior to other V12 classics from Lamborghini such as the Countach, Diablo and Murciélago in terms of recognition value and timelessness. The new tone-on-tone color collection impresses with its elegance and evokes the powerful, aerospace-inspired original design elements of the Aventador. In addition to 18 standard colors, there is an unprecedented range of optional equipment and more than 300 colors available from Lamborghini Ad Personam, which enable owners to create their own personal, unique piece of jewelery from the Lamborghini V12 history.
The coupé version of the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is launched in a two-tone gray-on-gray configuration that is broken up by lines and details in Rosso Mimir (matt red), such as the contour and the "teeth" of the front splitter has an accent line running along the vehicle with matching accents on the rear fins of the rear diffuser in carbon fiber: top performance and pure design in perfect harmony. The roof of the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster is also available in exposed carbon fiber.
The elegant, yet sporty-looking two-tone exterior in the matt gray exterior colors Grigio Acheso and Grigio Teca is reflected in the interior: black leather and Alcantara with gray stitching and decorative elements that match the exterior and Y-seat inlays made of black Alcantara. An optional, repeating laser cut Y motif with a contrasting background color on the seats and on the dashboard also characterizes the Ultimae and is being used for the first time as a dynamic styling feature. The comfort seats of the LP 780-4 were taken over from the Aventador S and have the Ultimae logo embroidered on the seat cushions. The indication 001 of 350/250 in the area of the A-pillar and dashboard on the driver's side indicates the limited number of units.
The customer can choose from three standard colors (silver, bronze and white), five additional optional colors and, of course, the almost infinite spectrum of Lamborghini Ad Personam for the design of the S-Line highlights in the seats, doors and dashboard panels. A CFRP carbon fiber package, available as standard, enhances the interior and exterior elements. The outside area is available in a matt finish that goes perfectly with the low-gloss exterior colors.
In addition to the standard Dianthus 20 ″ and 21 ″ forged rims in silver, the optional Dianthus, Leiron and Nireo 20 ″ and 21 ″ models are available in bronze, black and titanium, all of which are equipped with P Zero Corsa tires from Pirelli. The color accent paint on the exterior is also available in white, silver and bronze and is coordinated with the accents on the front bumper and on the fins of the rear diffuser. Standard brake calipers in silver are complemented by other optional brake caliper colors that can be found in the central wheel lock.
The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster is being launched in the shades of blue Blu Tawaret and Blu Nethuns with roof elements in black high-gloss carbon fiber.
The driver and front passenger areas are just as sophisticated: the individually adjustable digital TFT instrument cluster shows the driving modes and controls the connectivity functions. Apple CarPlay controls voice commands and entertainment functions, while the optional Lamborghini telemetry system is available for those who want to celebrate the last Aventador on the racetrack.
When the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is launched, it will be available as a Coupé and Roadster in the Lamborghini network, with the exception of the following markets: Mainland China, South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil and Chile.
