Is the E46 BMW M3 the best M3 ever? We (and many others) believe JA! Handling, steering, naturally aspirated engine, rear-wheel drive - none of this has ever come together again and is still a guarantee of driving pleasure today. And especially the 3,2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine (S54B32) with its 343 PS & 365 NM torque is a dream. It is still a masterpiece of German engineering. A good 20 years later, however, it is something weak-chested compared to current vehicles. And the owner of this M3 probably saw it that way too. Without further ado he planted it S85 5.0 liter V10 vacuum cleaner from the E60 M5 / E63 M6 to the M3. And in the new video from AutoTopNL the result is tested.
BMW E46 M3 with S85 ten-cylinder!
The vacuum cleaner works tightly 507 PS & 520 NM Torque and just fits into the small engine compartment of the E46. And the soundscape in particular is in focus. After all, the intake / exhaust noise of the V10 is legendary and unmatched to this day. Interestingly, by the way, the engine is not to the annoying six-speed SMG (sequential manual transmission) coupled, but to a DCT (Double clutch). It is not mentioned which one, but we assume the seven-speed DCT from BMW the E92 M3. And the combination works, apart from a few active indicator lights in the instrument cluster, apparently excellent. Have fun watching!
