BMW model update measures for summer 2022!

The model range of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been expanded to include two plug-in hybrid variants and a diesel model with intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive. Two additional drive variants each will be available from July 2022 for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé and the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Newly compiled equipment packages make it easier to select options to increase driving pleasure and comfort in numerous model series.

The standard equipment of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé and the new BMW M3 Sedan will be supplemented by the BMW Curved Display in summer 2022. This means that the latest generation of the multi-sensory vehicle experience BMW iDrive based on the BMW Operating System 8 has also found its way into both series. Additional functions for the navigation system BMW Maps and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant ensure further advances in the field of digitization.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer: Premiere for two plug-in hybrid models and a new diesel engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

With combustion engines from the current BMW Group Efficient Dynamics generation and the latest version of 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has had an advanced drive portfolio since its market launch. In the future, two plug-in hybrid variants of the compact all-rounder will ensure additional efficiency and driving pleasure. The hybrid systems of both models combine a three-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which drives the front wheels, with an electric motor driving the rear wheels, which, like the high-voltage battery located deep in the vehicle floor, comes from the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. The resulting hybrid-specific all-wheel drive ensures maximum sportiness, driving stability and traction in all driving situations.

The drive of the new BMW 230e xDrive Active Tourer (combined fuel consumption: 0,8 - 0,6 liters/100 km; combined power consumption: 15,9 kWh - 14,4 kWh/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 18 – 14 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) mobilizes an output of up to 240 kW/326 hp (generated jointly by the combustion engine with up to 110 kW/150 hp and the electric drive with up to 130 kW/177 hp). The more powerful of the two plug-in hybrid models sprints from a standstill to 5,5 km/h in 100 seconds. Its electric range is 82 to 93 kilometers according to WLTP.

With a maximum output of up to 180 kW/245 hp (generated jointly by the combustion engine with up to 100 kW/136 hp and the electric drive with up to 80 kW/109 hp), the plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW 225e makes it possible xDrive Active Tourer (combined fuel consumption: 0,8 - 0,6 liters/100 km; combined power consumption: 15,8 kWh - 14,2 kWh/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 18 – 14 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 6,7 seconds. With values ​​between 83 and 92 kilometers according to WLTP, it also has a significantly increased electric range compared to the previous model generation. The maximum charging power when using a wall box or public charging station has also been doubled. It is now 7,4 kWh. This allows the high-voltage batteries of the two plug-in hybrid models to be charged from zero to 2,5 percent of their capacity within 100 hours.

The third new addition to the drive portfolio is a 2,0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. In the new BMW 223d xDrive Active Tourer (combined fuel consumption: 5,1 – 4,6 liters/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 133 – 121 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) this results in a maximum output of 155 kW/211 hp (generated jointly by the combustion engine with up to 145 kW/197 hp and the electric drive with up to 14 kW/19 hp) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm ( generated jointly by the combustion engine with up to 400 Nm and the electric drive with up to 55 Nm). The electric motor of the mild hybrid system is integrated into the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch and acts as a crankshaft starter generator. The power of the drive system is transferred to the road via the intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive. The new BMW 100d xDrive Active Tourer needs 223 seconds to accelerate from zero to 7,3 km/h.

BMW 2 Series Coupé: Two new drive variants, BMW Curved Display and shift paddles on the steering wheel now standard.

A new entry-level engine and another BMW Performance Automobile from BMW M GmbH enrich the model range for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. The new BMW 218 Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7,1 – 6,5 litres/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 160 – 146 g/km according to WLTP; Information according to NEDC: – ), which is powered by a 2,0 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum output of 115 kW/156 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The engine's power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The new BMW 218i Coupé accelerates from zero to 8,7 km/h in 100 seconds.

The second new model is located at the highest level of the performance spectrum. The new BMW M240i Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 8,5 – 7,8 liters/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 192 – 177 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) embodies the puristic form of brand-typical driving dynamics in a model of the premium compact segment. To this end, a 275 kW/374 hp in-line six-cylinder petrol engine in this series is now also combined with classic rear-wheel drive. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential in the rear axle drive are also involved in transferring the drive power to the road. The new BMW M240i Coupé thus reaches the 4,7 km/h mark in 100 seconds.

Shift paddles on the steering wheel are available in the new BMW M automobile for spontaneous manual intervention in the gear selection. From summer 2022, these paddles will also be part of the equipment scope of the 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which is standard on all four-cylinder models of the BMW 2 Series Coupé. In the future, the drive portfolio of the series will include three four-cylinder petrol engines and one four-cylinder diesel engine as well as the 3,0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which now ensures fascinating performance in conjunction with both all-wheel and rear-wheel drive.

The brand-typical driver orientation in the cockpit of the BMW 2 Series Coupé has also been reinterpreted. All model variants of the two-door will be equipped with a BMW Curved Display as standard from July 2022. It consists of a 12,3-inch information display and a control display with touch function and a screen diagonal of 14,9 inches, which form a fully digital, high-resolution display network behind a common glass surface curved towards the driver. With the BMW Curved Display and the extended capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the user experience in the BMW 2 Series Coupé is now consistently geared towards touch and voice control.

BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé: Sales start for two more models with in-line six-cylinder engines.

A new BMW M automobile with traditional performance characteristics will also complement the model range in the BMW 2022 Series in summer 4. The new BMW M440i Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 8,2 – 7,6 liters/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 185 – 172 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) impresses with the combination of an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine with 275 kW/374 hp and mild hybrid technology, an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, classic rear-wheel drive and an M sports differential. The extremely sporty version of the four-door coupé in the premium middle class sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5,0 seconds.

A six-cylinder in-line diesel engine will also be available for the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé in the future. The 3,0 liter drive unit for the new BMW 430d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6,0 – 5,5 liters/100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 158 – 145 g/km according to WLTP; Specifications according to NEDC: – ) produces a maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. In this model, too, 48-volt mild hybrid technology increases both efficiency and spontaneous power delivery. The impressive torque of the drive, the 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the intelligent all-wheel drive together enable acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 5,3 seconds.

For all BMW M automobiles of the BMW 4 Series and for the fully electric BMW i4 M50 (combined power consumption: 22,5 kWh - 18,0 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2-Emissions: 0 g/km; Information according to NEDC: – ) an M Sports package Pro will be available from July 2022, which includes, among other things, an extended M high-gloss Shadow Line, M lights Shadow Line, an M sports brake system with red painted brake calipers and M seat belts. The range of exterior paint finishes for the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW 4 Series Convertible has also been expanded to include the variant Skyscraper Gray metallic.

Targeted customization with new equipment packages.

High-quality options from the program of special equipment available ex works for numerous model series will be combined in new, model-specific packages from summer 2022. They enable targeted customization with clearly defined focal points. For example, a Travel Package and a Comfort Package are available for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.

An innovation package and a comfort package are available for the BMW 2 Series Coupé. The selection for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is particularly diverse, which will be available from July 2022 with a Premium Package, a Travel Package, an Innovation Package, a Comfort Package and a Comfort Package Professional as well as the M Sport Pro model be able to walk.

From summer 5, the models in the BMW X6 and BMW X2022 series will have the Sensafin decorative quilted interior equipment as standard. The newly developed surfaces are available in five color variants and have leather-like properties as well as an even more refined visual and haptic appearance.

Extended standard equipment increases the attractiveness of the BMW Z4. The Roadster now comes with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard. It includes a fully digital instrument cluster and a Control Display, each with a screen diagonal of 10,25 inches, as well as the Connected Package Professional.

The BMW Operating System 8 and the latest generation of the BMW iDrive including the BMW Curved Display will also be standard equipment for the models in the BMW M2022 Sedan series from July 3. The four-door high-performance sports car can also be optionally equipped with an innovation package, a wireless charging tray for suitable smartphones, a Personal eSim, an instrument panel in Sensatec design and M interior trim strips in Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Pure Gray metallic is also available as a new exterior color.

The new M graphics for the bonnet and the luggage compartment lid offer an additional way of emphasizing the performance character of the models in the BMW M4 Coupé series. The contour lines in high-gloss black and the BMW M GmbH brand logo on the bonnet give the vehicle's exterior a particularly expressive touch.

Navigation system BMW Maps and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with extended functions.

Driving pleasure and comfort are increased in all models already equipped with the BMW Operating System 8 with the help of new digital services. In the summer of 2022, both the BMW Maps navigation system and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will have new functions and expanded capabilities. In addition to new map displays, the navigation system also offers information about special features along the route taken on frequently used routes, even when route guidance is not activated. When using the eDrive Zone function, it will in future be possible to differentiate between conventional environmental zones and completely emission-free areas within an urban area in the plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series and the BMW X5. In the future, advanced charging software for purely electrically powered models will enable charging profiles for frequently used power sources to be saved and preconditioning of the high-voltage battery to be activated manually to prepare for use of a direct current fast charging station.

In future, the BMW Operating System 8 will feature an M-specific user interface in the cockpit of BMW M automobiles. In the BMW iX and BMW i4, the additional display Augmented View, which can be used with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, is also shown in the information display. In conjunction with BMW Operating System 8, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will have even more advanced capabilities in summer 2022. The digital companion and vehicle expert can proactively provide the driver with context-related suggestions for using functions. In future, these will also relate to the active cruise control with Stop & Go function, the Parking Assistant, the eDrive Zone service and the option of testing additional functions from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant also provides the driver with explanations of numerous other vehicle functions that he has not previously used.
